$3 Bonus Cashback on $30 Choice Gift Card @ Cashrewards (First 3000 Activations Only, Swap for Amazon, Apple, eBay, Uber etc)

5320

Hi again everyone. Offer is limited to the first 3000 activations. Once activated, you have until 4pm AEDT to complete your purchase (even if activation limit is reached). You'll no longer be able to activate the offer once the cap is reached. Thanks for your support as always. Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Under some conditions, there may be a delay of up to 30 minutes for the $3 bonus to show in your account. Please don't worry.

$3 Bonus Promo Terms - read carefully - it will save a lot of questions:

  1. To be eligible for the $3 bonus, you must first activate the promotion on this page, then purchase a Choice gift card of $30 denomination (or higher) via the Gift Card Page on Cashrewards (link is on the activation page).
  2. After activation, gift card purchase must be made between 11am and 4pm AEDT 05/10/2022. Bonus will decline if purchase is made after 4pm AEDT.
  3. Activations are capped at 3000. Once activation limit is reached, you can still purchase until 4pm AEDT (provided you first activated the bonus).
  4. Bonus is eligible on purchase of a Choice gift card of $30 denomination (or higher) in a single transaction.
  5. Bonus will be added automatically to your Cashrewards account as pending upon activation of this offer. Bonus will be approved within 7 days of the associated qualifying purchase being approved, as per the terms of the store.
  6. Bonus is over and above the advertised cashback rate which still applies to the transaction.
  7. Gift card purchases through the Gift Card Page are available only via desktop or mobile browsers. They are not available via the Cashrewards App.
  8. Bonus is limited to one per Cashrewards account. Additional transactions do not qualify for additional bonuses.
  9. Cannot be used in conjunction with Cashrewards Refer-a-Friend or any other promotion that may be active at this time.
  10. Review all terms & conditions of this Digital Gift Card prior to finalising your order. All terms are set by the retailer, not by Cashrewards. For queries regarding the purchase of your Digital Gift Card, contact True Rewards on 1800 850 739 Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) 9am to 5pm Sydney time.
  11. Fraudulent activity will result in rewards being forfeited and accounts closed.

Do not activate the bonus unless you intend using it - it will decline after 14 days unless a qualifying purchase is made. For general tracking success, ensure you disable 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, avoid browsers such as Brave, close any additional browser tabs, and don't click away to other sites looking for codes etc after clicking from Cashrewards as tracking will be lost. Make sure you're subscribed to our newsletter so you don't miss out on promotions and great deals. Use our Help Centre & Contact form here for any questions or issues.

You double checked all of that info in less than 60 seconds? I'm impressed.

      • +48

I run a Python script that extracts the participating retailers from a $30 Choice gift card and creates a table in both the Dokuwiki format (which is the format used for OzBargain wiki pages) and the Markdown format (which is the format used for OzBargain deals and comments). It only takes a few seconds for the script to pull the information and organise it into a table.

(Yes, I wrote the Python script myself.)

        • +1

          So is that a yes?

          • +3
            • @WookieMonster:

It only takes a few seconds for the script to pull the information and organise it into a table.

Then do you manually compare the tables or are differences highlighted?

              • +6

@MS Paint: Usually, I add the table to the OzBargain wiki first and then compare the current version of the page with the previous version of the page. OzBargain has a handy feature where it will highlight entries that have been added and removed between the two selected versions.

However, today, I just manually compared yesterday’s copy of the table with today’s copy of the table and saw there was no difference. I did a manual comparison today, because I wanted to be quick! Choice gift card participating retailers and available denominations also rarely change.

          • +1

@MS Paint: Muzeeb is that YOU 😭

          • +3

@MS Paint: Wookie is quick. That's why he's a monster, not a human.

        • +1

          Clever dude. Kudos.

        • It would be a few milliseconds if you added in

          If participatingRetailers == "Amazon AU"
          then print "Amazon Giftcard"
          exit():

        • Bruh

    • How did you find all the retailers?

Nowhere on the page I could get them
      https://www.cashrewards.com.au/choice-gift-card?itm_source=O…

      • My Python script relies on me having an unspent $30 Choice gift card to work properly, as that is the only way I can access the full list of participating retailers.

From the email I received from True Rewards with my $30 Choice gift card, I grab the URL a web browser would display once you click/tap Redeem Gift in the email you get from True Rewards and input that into my script. My script then opens that URL in a web browser, waits for the page to load, presses the Swap Now button for me, then looks at the HTML code to extract each participating retailer and its associated denominations.

  • Can't access the site from Vietnam.

A bit cheeky how this $30 promo links to a $130 gift card by default. Coincidence? Seems unlikely .

Their aim is to " catch you if we can"

I wish CR allowed us to pay for gift cards with accrued cash back credit like SB does .

    • +1

one of the best features of SB, hopefully CR will have it soon.

      • +2

Indeed, and by default (all things being equal) I'll preference SB over CR for this very reason.

  • Thanks TA

  • Thanks again, 2 in 2 days, boosting amazon balance :)

  • thanks. Have deposited into Bezo's account

Stop TA! The inflation is already very high and you not letting us spend less..

  • Any chance we can setup a direct debit to automatically occur twice a month? 😁

Looks complicated. I will pass. I will hand in my Ozbargain membership today.

    • +3

I guess I'm uninitiated, by why does a limited $3 cashback deal (10%) attract such a rapid stream of upvotes?

      • +4

        I’ve always wondered myself.

People sometimes spend more than $3 of their time to cash in the $3 offer lol

Even if the process is reasonably straightforward.

        I can imagine a frenzy of $1 offers too…

        • -1

          We must be missing something.

It looks like committing 100% of the cost to a gift card, then relying on the approval process of a cashback service, and waiting seven days (comparatively much less than other cashbacks) plus withdrawal transfer time, up to seven business days (if you have the minimum $10, if not it's left on your cashback account balance until you do). If approved, you get 10% off for a total saving of $3, with the purchase cost stuck on a gift card.

I guess it's something, it just doesn't sound like much.

But at ~300 upvotes in ~1hr, there has to be more to it…

          • @muwu: I think the sad line people tell themselves is:

If I do 100 of these, I’ll get $300 of free money!

The even sadder reality is that companies keep margins up by spending $10k on a deal like this, and the little feeder fish go into a frenzy.

Very easy manipulation by companies to keep their products being sold (gift cards and advertising/revenue/referral services to companies). They don’t even need to advertise. The advertising budget runs the whole campaign lol

            • +5

              @wormarts: Yeah, but it's 11.5% off!

              • @M00Cow: 11.36% (minus GST)?

                • +2

@muwu: No GST on gift cards

                • @muwu: $30 gc
                  Cashback
                  $0.45
                  $3.00

                  3.45/30 = 0.115

So I'm guessing 11.5% is correct?

                  • @M00Cow:

                    No GST on gift cards

                    Thx @ whitlam

          • +5

@muwu: The process takes me 1 minute. I convert it to an Amazon gift card which I know I will use towards pantry items pretty much weekly.

$30 gift card “locked” for this purpose isn’t a lot. Either way there isn’t much to lose as I will still be spending the money towards the items anyways?

            • @kaybc: just curious why you use Amazon to fill up your pantry. Is there any price advantage? Do you still go to Coles/Wooly? Thanks

              • @jowu15: There are items that are out of stock at my local or it just saves me the hassle of going out for just 1-2 items (sometimes S&S for amazon works out to be better too). I still do shop at woolies/coles :)

        • +7

Gift Voucher cashbacks never fails to confirm, it's not something I have to track to see if it declines. It's a guaranteed discount for eBay, Amazon.. stackable with other offers/cashbacks

And you don't have to hunt for something to buy.. always going to spend in eBay/Amazon within a month anyway

      • +6

The majority if us needs Amazon Gift Cards and no other retailer has it on sale more often (if at all, I’ve only seen it on sale once at Coles) than Cashrewards.

With these deals from TA/Cashrewards, it works out to be 11.5% off and that is better than no discount. Sure, it’s only $3. But that $3 can be put into good use. We all live at different socioeconomic levels, a $3 bonus means a lot to me. For something that takes just 1 minute or less of your time, that’ll explain why this deal is so popular

Money adds up, and before you know it you’d be saving a lot at the end of the year

    • +4

Looks complicated. I will pass. I will hand in my Ozbargain membership today.

      Not complicated

      @dreamscene @muwu @wormarts

Your thread almost reminds me of this one from yesterday's promotion.
OzBargainers love this promo, they don't have too, but due to the benefits and money saved people will choose. Me personally, I love this promotion. It's a personal choice in the end I guess!

      • +2

The comments seem to mention time and I feel like by the time they’ve typed up their comment I would’ve completed my gift card purchase already lmao

        • Exactly!

  • Thanks TA. First time I participated in this offer. Joined Cashrewards a few months ago.

While these are good, I feel like they're significantly worse now that you can longer swap to Coles gift cards.

  • How do you swap for Amazon?

    • +1

How do you swap for Amazon?

When you redeem the choice card from your email, it will tell you to swap.

      • Sweet, thanks for the info

  • Is there anyway I can get in on these using a New Zealand issued card? have a problem with linking…

  • Dummy question. Can these giftcards be used in store, or just online?

    • +1

You will need to refer to the individual gift card terms and conditions to see whether it can be used in-store or online. I am not familiar with all the individual gift card terms and conditions, but in terms of the main ones I can think of:

      Retailer Instore Redemption? Online Redemption?
      Airbnb N/A Yes
      Amazon N/A Yes
      Apple Yes Yes (max 8)
      Binge N/A Yes
      Catch N/A Yes
      eBay N/A Yes
      IKEA Yes Yes
      JB Hi-Fi Yes Yes
      Kayo Sports N/A Yes
      Myer Yes Yes (max 9)
The Good Guys Yes Yes (max 2)
      Uber N/A Yes
      Uber Eats N/A Yes
      • +2

        Priceline is in store only.

  • +1

Damn were in the gym and missed it!

  • +1

Hi guys. Activation cap now reached (1:02pm AEDT). For those that activated but are yet to purchase, you now have until 4pm AEDT to purchase your card via this link. Any purchases after 4pm will unfortunately have the bonus declined. Also, due to the amount of traffic at True Rewards during the promo, there's a small possibility a handful of transactions may not have yet reported to CR accounts. Please don't worry, as these will be captured in the next batch run from True Rewards just after midnight. Any issues, please PM me.

  • Estimated approval date 03-01-2023 lol

    • +1

Just a placeholder. All gift card cashbacks and associated bonuses are approved within 3-4 days. See historical data here. Thanks.
