What Should I Buy? Car Solar Bluetooth Phone Speaker

Hey ozb community.

I’m interested in what people are using for car speakerphones?

My car has terrible Bluetooth - and I constantly get complaints about people not hearing me or hearing too much road noise. So I want to go back to connecting my phone directly to a solar Bluetooth speaker. (And not using car stereo at all)

Here are my requirements
- solar powered (windscreen mounted)
- noise cancelling microphone
- audio speaker
- sub $60 ish.
-it would also be great if it allowed 2 or more devices to connect at once (for multiple phones).

Is anyone rocking these devices anymore?

If your car has an Aux port, you could use a Besign BK01 or BK03. They can be had for around $30-40 on Amazon. It's a usb powered device that connects to your phone via bluetooth and car speakers via a 3.5mm cable.

I used to use the Taotronics equivalents which were great and lasted a few years, however they seem hard to get since they got themselves banned from Amazon. I recently got a BK03 and it seems reasonable so far after a few uses - great for music, decent for calls. Comes with a little vent mount, or a sticker thing so you can mount the microphone in a place that works for you.

I'd get the Solar Bluetooth Phone Speaker.
Cars are too expensive at the the moment.

  • If you're looking for reliable call quality, will solar do the job? What if you're parked under cover during the day?

    • I don’t do many calls, and I like the idea of something I can mount high up without the need for more peaky wires running, but am happy to run a new wire if there is something suitable

depending on your skills/confidence, cables can be hidden behind A-pillar etc. (Youtube has guides)

Personally I wouldn't trust solar-powered for stuff like this.

  • Depending on the car, it might not be much more to just change the head-unit to a proper one with in-built bluetooth and save yourself the hassle of other devices

  • I'd get a pair of earphones that don't totally block out other noise. Something like Soundpeats air

Get a decent headset like a Poly voyager 5200 headset. You'll never look back.

  • Your not going to get much for <60
