Price Monitoring via Website/Self Hosted App

Hi all,

I've been manually monitoring the prices of the Samsung Neo QLED 75-inch TV from a few major retailers in a spreadsheet and was wondering if there any of you bargain-veterans had your own efficient ways of doing this.

Can anyone recommend any websites or self hosted apps/dockers that can do this? (I tried to utilise changedetection.io but it just didn't work with some of the websites.)

I'm looking to track trends of retailers on specific items before I pull triggers to buy. For example I noticed Harvey/JB HiFi/Good Guys all jack up prices on the TV I'm monitoring (~$700 increase) the night before the Queens mourning day, and would now like to monitor more products so I can make better informed decisions before purchasing.

I think this would be a good idea to start tracking a few items before Black Friday, so I can tell if certain deals are actually legitimately deals.

Any advice is appreciated,

I was using urlwatch but moved everything over to changedetection.io (self hosted).
urlwatch is more powerful, but changedetection.io is just easier to use with the web interface.

About half of my monitored sites use Basic method, the other half I have to use Playright Chrome/Javascript to work properly.
It can also be a bit of trial and error to get the correct CSS/JSON/XPATH Filter on the Basic method.

    • Hosted on a RaspberryPI 4 4GB?

changedetection.io is running in a VM with 2x CPUs, 4GB Memory allocated, hosted on an Intel NUC10i5FNH running Proxmox.
VM is using about 15% CPU 3GB Memory for 21 monitored urls.

        • NUC10i5FNH

I'm envious. I have mine running off 5th gen Intel NUCs. Maybe time for an upgrade :)

    • I had a few issues setting up the Chrome library thing the first time as Basic didn't work for JB HiFi (for me anyway).
I'm using Unraid to host it, so I'll have to give it another go.

  • I am really interested in this as well. I am looking to buy the exact same type of tv (Samsung QLED 75") and have been monitoring prices manually (including EPP). Keen to learn about all the about automation options.

  • I've been using Wachete for checking element changes on a page, good for most sites but the basic plan only allows 2 dynamic pages, so not sure if that'll be an issue for you.

  • So I was just setting changedetection.io back up in my Unraid server, and I noticed that Edge popped up and detected the price for this from other users using their Shopping extension and has been tracking the price all along.

Here is a screenshot of it from the JB Hi-Fi page (It's had quite a drop in the past)

Just need an easy way to access this while physically in stores.
