Feast for Two (6pcs Chicken, 2 Reg Chips, Reg Potato & Gravy, Reg Coleslaw and 2 Reg Drinks) $18.95 @ KFC (Selected Stores)

380

After encountering the debacle that is the new KFC app today, and discovering that the "App Only" offers section no longer exists, I wondered how I was going to get my usual order of a Dinner for Two. (Last time I tried ordering in store I was bluntly told that the Dinner for Two was an app exclusive.)

I rocked up to the drive-thru at my local store in Warrnambool (Victoria) and to my surprise when I asked for a Dinner for Two I was instead given a "Feast for Two" which contains six pieces of chicken (compared to the Dinner for Two which contains five) along with all the usual sides, but for the lesser price of $18.95 (compared to $19.95 which this store usually charges for the Dinner for Two).

I don't know if this is a national/per store offer but hopefully others can have some luck with their cluck.

    Booyakasha!

Feast for two? I can all this in one sitting.

    • Yeah. At the minimum the sides should be large.

I hate the new app, it's so bad.

Had no idea it had changed until I saw this but damn it's gone so far backwards. I can't even see my "saved stores" any more and finding a store requires constant confirmation and scrolling. App promos don't show price until you redeem and only show when stores are open.

What's amazing is that they've legitimately not had a single favourable review since they've switched and still haven't reverted. Just keep review bombing ig XD

    • YES! Too many white spaces and the image size is too big. You need to scroll a lot just to get from one menu to another.

  • Isn't the family burger deal a little more value? $22 but you get 4 burgers plus 2 large chips and a large drink?

You're comparing chicken pieces to burgers (and it's $22.95, not $22).

As a rule of thumb for comparing KFC deals, you can assume a worst case equivalence of 1 large side/drink = 2 small sides/drinks1, and treat sides/drinks as equivalent2. However, this is a worst case, and you would highly likely get more value out of one large side than two small sides - albeit with less variety.

Comparing to Feast for Two, Family Burger Meal is an extra $4 for:

      • swapping 6 OR pieces for 4 burgers, and
      • swapping 4+2 small sides+drinks for 3 large sides/drinks ("on par" worst case).

Comparing to Feast for Two, Cheap as Chips (assuming you have access to it) is an extra $3 for:

      • 2 OR pieces,
      • 6 nuggets and dipping sauces, and
      • swapping 4+2 small sides+drinks for 4 large sides/drinks ("one extra large side" worst case).

      1. We can assume that one large side is (worst case) equivalent to two small sides. The energy content, going from a regular side to a large side, is as follows:
        - Chips: 2x
        - Potato and Gravy, Coleslaw: ~4.09x
        - Drinks: ~3.33x. A standard drink is a 375mL can, which can be upsized to a large drink (600mL bottle). Confusingly, a large side is equivalent to a 1.25L bottle, not a 600mL one.

      2. Large sides/drinks can be switched out for the other. Small sides/drinks cannot.

God I love people like you who have the time to do all the analysis.

        Doctorate in KFC

      • I cannot believe what I just read. Nicely done.

      • Does KFCs menu heavily vary from location to location?
In the app I don't have access to any of the mentioned meals, though there is a "Burger Feast" @ $32.45 (4 burgers, 2 lge chips, 6nuggets, sml popcorn chicken). Conversely this seems to be terrible value compared to the existing FBB which was always my go-to value for money option especially when hungry :D

From what I understand - no, KFC menus seem to be pretty standardised across locations.

Family Burger Meal and Cheap as Chips should be in the "Colonel's Offers" section of the app, but you can't access it any more after the newest app update.

  • My local KFC the other day, only had chicken strips and chips left!!

The new app is bloody awful. There was nothing wrong with the previous one..

    R.I.P Cheap as Chips :(

    • +1

      not there anymore?
And can anyone please confirm OP "Feast for Two" it availability ?

    • NOOOOOOOOOOO!!

      ALSO RIP "Secret Menu"

      • +1

I thought secret menu was still available?

        • +1

Okay after mucking around in the app, can confirm the secret menu is still there haha

          • @jimmytuan: How did you get the secret menu working?

            • +2

@jordyap: on the menu page, drag down and hold for a bit then let go. Then under the menu headings a red box appears with shhh, you have to click on this to unlock it

    • that was the best deal…

    • This will cause famine in my house :-(
There is nothing like it on the new app/menu
      RIP KFC

    • +1

      OMG!!! there's 0 value for KFC now….

  • +2

They really butchered the app good

  • +2

Its a bad app, NEARLY as bad as the Red Rooster app. Both keep going round in circles and selecting Home store then selecting your meal then selecting Home store again. Absolute shockers!!!

    • +2

Oh yeah Red Rooster's is shocking. If vouchers load, it's a long wait and definitely easier to order via counter.

The reason why I'm more annoyed about KFC though was they destroyed a good app. RR was just always bad.

    • Could be worse…. It could be as inconvenient as the maccas app that doesn't let you order delivery.
Also according to the app 4/5 of my closest maccas don't sell McFlurry and the McCafe item availability is all over the place.

  • There is (or was) a combo I used to order, 10x OR chicken + 2 large chips for $22… I believe was called a Dinner Box. Haven't had it for a few years though so not sure if still on their registers

    • Everyone remembers the dinner box fondly.

Helped keep me solvent through the Uni years by making me question if any other feed was as good value when stuck in the city.

  • Thanks, Lunch Sorted
