    Thinkpad T14 G3 maybe?

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T14-G3-review-…

    1.4kg
Battery life tested for 13 hours of websurfing
power efficient Ryzen APU, 6~8 cores depending on configuration
    16:10 display
3 years of On-site warranty by default.

Not super expensive either, only $2109, making it cheaper than the Dell XPS 13 9315 but choosing 32GB of RAM will set you back $2,734. RAM is soldered.

I'd say pay a bit more and get the T14s, it has significantly better build quality.

  • Yes pigs can fly. Username verified as wrong.

  • No Macs pls/ Windows only

Shame, a Mac would meet your needs and price perfectly.

Hi Flyingpig, I've been running a XPS13 9310 i7 for the last year and it works really well as a business laptop. Running 2-3 screens each day, multiple chrome tabs, viewpoint, business banking etc with no issue. Whilst connected to my rig it has no issue, however If I spent a day out of the office I'm lucky to have the battery last a whole day. (8-9 Hours)

Another downside of the XPS13 is the webcam, it runs only 720p. Easy fix with a Logitech brio or some other webcam if you do Zooms.

My wife runs a Lenovo X1 and it runs well however the performance of the Dell seems to be much better even with similar specs.

A few years ago I used a Spectre x360 for about 18 months and liked it. Felt very similar to the Dell XPS13.

Personally I prefer the look of the Dell XPS and Spectre over the Lenovo and Thinkpads. They look a bit "corporate" for me.

    Cheers,

    Jay

    • Does Zoom run at 1080p for all plans including free? I thought only certain paid plans got better than the standard 720p?

I had a xps 13 few years back and i loved it but i have heard that xps 2022 range has really poor battery

      • +2

Yeah its not too good, within a couple of hours of being on a zoom call without a charger you are close to 20%.

Such a shame as everything else is so good.

XPS is a consumer laptop, not business.

Would recommend looking at the Latitude line.

:O 20 tabs requires that much RAM ? are you using Chrome ?
I have 53 tabs open now and still ram usage for the Firefox is 4 GB :D

    • Yes chrome and brave browser but as i mentioned i usually have discord, slack, telegram, tradingview app etc open as well. So need something quick

      • What about a HP Elitebook 840 G9? I used one of these a few years ago and it worked quite well. Its a business grade laptop and you can get it with 64gb of ram.

I see your 53 tabs and raise you another 143 😎

  • Looking at Thinkpad X1 Carbon and T14 atm
Does anyone has 1st hand experience with either of these ?

    • +1

My wife uses a X1 Carbon on the daily and it works well. A bit finnicky when using an external dock but otherwise works well. Much better battery than the XPS13.

      • We've never installed a nano sim in it, however a good option if you are travelling.

There is a 16% Cashback on Cashrewards at the moment, if still haven't bought a Thinkpad yet this might be a good time.
