jokes aside, Cloudflare zero trust is insanely good. Even for non-business stuff. I use it every day to protect my home servers which are exposed to the internet.

  • +5

    They have changed the terms.

Eligible customers must have an active zone or actively use Cloudflare Zero Trust

    • Unfortunately, you are right. Was wondering why I hadn't received my email and saw this:

"Select "Claim my offer" and Yubico will email the offer to the email address associated with your account if you are eligible. Eligible customers must have an active zone or actively use Cloudflare Zero Trust."

Looks like the PAYG Zero Trust plan is $7 billed monthly…

    • I'm guessing a zone means you have a domain active and registered according this so hopefully there is still a way to access the deal for free since there are many free domains around on Ozbargain anyways.

I have been using cloudflare for DNS for a while now so will have to see if I end up getting the email or not 🤞🤞

    • what if I clicked the "Claim" link before they change the terms ?

    • I got lucky then! Got my code and just purchased 2x 5 NFC and 6x 5C NFC - with free account I played with some time ago but never got to use it properly.
      Great deal OP!

      • I made an account few days after seeing this and enabled zero trust. And clicked claim.

But i havent got the email i am not using the zero trust i am not actively using it and i have not registered anything to it.

It that the key to getting the email? What must i further do aside clicking claim and activating zero trust ( but not actively using it or registered anything with it not sure how ) as you got it successfully/

Bit nooby, is it registering a domain you have the last step to get that email ?

  • Is a zone a domain (yes according to the link in the comment above)? If so I have one active so if I get the email I'll post here.

I have just received the email.

Email says - "Even better news! For a limited time, we're excited to surprise you with an upgrade to our multi-protocol YubiKey 5 Series!

You are now eligible to purchase up to 10 individual YubiKey 5 NFC or YubiKey 5C NFC (minimum 2) starting as low as $10 USD"

  • I applied just before it was posted here, and I just got the email now.

  • not getting email but as above, looks promising!
i almost thought oh no another 38DELL story

    but…
what kind of Cloudflare account do you have ??? paid? free ?

    • I did recieve the email. I have domains with Cloudflare with an active zone. I believe that is one of the requirements to receiving the code, either that or be using Zero Trust.

      • +1

i have no idea what is active zone so i assume i wont get it then…
        how sad

        • An active zone is basically a domain. If you have a domain through Cloudflare, you should be eligible. It's just stops people who have nothing on the account from claiming the offer.

        • hehe me too, I only use 1.1.1.1 DNS without an account

    • I got the email today but applied shortly after the deal was posted.
Free tier, dormant for quite some time.

  • nice, just got the email.

I have a domain & use it for DNS

  • +1

I just got the email too. Even better, they're offering YubiKey 5!

Even better news! For a limited time, we're excited to surprise you with an upgrade to our multi-protocol YubiKey 5 Series!

You are now eligible to purchase up to 10 individual YubiKey 5 NFC or YubiKey 5C NFC (minimum 2) starting as low as $10 USD.

    Thanks a bunch OP!

    • Do you have an active zone or zero trust?

      • No, I only have a domain with them.

  • +3

for those in Sydney, DM if you want to split as I don't need max 10.

    • pm'ed.
      you Sir, are Gold

  • I'm looking for a couple, if anyone in Melbourne would like to share their deal, please pm :)

  • got the email, each person can buy 10

    • Do you have an active service?

      • +1

yes. But looks like new registered accounts can also claim this offer.

  • Just activated mine and submitted a support ticket

    FYI

Checkout adds GST at the cart, so total is $11 USD.

Two options for shipping to AU

Economy: 20-30 Working Days - No tracking available - $5
    Express: 1-5 Working Days - $30

  • 5 days later - nothing. Oh, well, I was indifferent anyway.

    • Did you have a paid account?

  • Has anybody received their code yet?

  • I have a paid domain name registered with cloudflare and have not received the email yet.

Wondering how long this will take

  • +2

Apparently there are issues with sending out emails for this deal and it's being worked on. Tweet from Cloudflare CTO: https://twitter.com/jgrahamc/status/1577386731267149825

    • I like this response:

I assume people who expressed interest prior to the change of terms will get the deal honored based on the original terms?

  • Still no email received yet from them

  • No email as of now, what's the domain name from which email is being sent ?

    • @info.yubico.com

Thank you for contacting Cloudflare Support.

We are currently in the process of analyzing your account to see if it qualifies for the offer.

If it qualifies while the offer is open, you will receive the offer within approximately three business days directly from Yubico.

    • I think we have find another deal :P looks like they won't give us new comers :P

  • +1

Finally got the email, however the code they provided me is invalid :(

Edit: Turns out I'm only eligible for 4 keys, not 10.

    • +3

Also got my email this morning with the discount code and could only get 4 keys as well. The terms say "up to four (4) YubiKey 5 NFC or YubiKey 5C NFC (minimum 2)".

I use Zero Trust free tier with just a single account.

      • The promo said 10 when I accepted it.

edit: Cloudflare may modify, limit, or discontinue this promotion at any time. Offer is subject to Yubico's terms.

So I guess they changed it to 4 based on the demand. It's a shame, I only wanted 4x NFC 2xUSB C

        • why so many ? 1 use, 1 backup and 1 backup of backup, should be enough?

        • Well if more ppl can get access this is a pretty decent number still.

    • Yes, same here. But it doesn't allow to buy 2 USB-A + 2 USB-C NFC.

  • +1

Still no email. I claimed it on last Saturday.

    • Same situation here, seems like those of us who created free accounts won't have the offer honoured in light of the terms changing.

    • Got an email saying I don't qualify lol.

Although I'v been meaning to get my blog transferred to its own domain for years. Now's probably the time!

  • Got my email today and key starting with YK22-

  • +1

I setup new free new ac because of this deal kbut i use their dns for years - how do they know that?)

    And just got email
You are now eligible to purchase up to 4 individual YubiKey 5 NFC or YubiKey 5C NFC (minimum 2) starting as low as $10 USD.

  • +1

Email received. I claimed it on Saturday morning on my 1-year-old account that didn't have anything in it, enabled Zero Trust on Tuesday (though haven't used it), and added my domain to CloudFlare on Wednesday to form an active zone.

  • +1

Just got an email saying I'm not eligible but I have had multiple domains active with them for years now :// Anyone else having the same problem?

    • Yes. I’ve submitted a ticket
Initially just hosted the zones on a free plan.
In the meantime I transferred all of my domains to Cloudflare (they were cheaper which is a bonus) and am posting this with a tunnel through their ZeroTrust product - I hope this is enough lol

      • Been waiting 4 days for my ticket. It's a joke

      • This is the reply I got from Cloudflare:

Thank you for contacting Cloudflare Support.
My name is ——— and I will be assisting on this issue.
We are currently in the process of analyzing your account to see if it qualifies for the offer.
If it qualifies while the offer is open, you will receive the offer within approximately three business days directly from Yubico.
In the meantime, we will go ahead and close out this ticket for you.

My hopes are not up at this stage but hopefully it comes next week then…

I clicked the offer button in CF dash yesterday morning and received the Yubikey email offer in about an hour.
All my sites are on the free-plan and I use their Registrar service, but I also have been using Tunnels since release.

          • @Thrift: Yeah I have no idea what the problem is with my account… I clicked the offer button the morning this was posted, I'm well within the eligibility criteria but still nothing except a rejection email. Not much I can do anymore I guess

  • +1

anyone receive buy 4 only - you can do 2x usb a and 2x usb c but dont select 2 packs, select indiv then x 2 for each.
end up with USD48.88 free shipping not sure i have not checked out

    • $10 each is for the non NFC version

      • Both offered keys have NFC. US$10 for the USB-A version, US$12.22 for the USB-C version.

        Item USD
        YubiKey 5 NFC x 2 20.00
        YubiKey 5C NFC x 2 24.44
        Subtotal 44.44
        Cheapest postage 5.00
        GST 4.94
        Total 54.38
  • sorry noob here. so if i use this for my mobile for example and someone steal both mobile and yubikey, they can just open my apps (which has been setup with yubikey), plug the key, touch it and get access straight away without entering any password?

    • They would need to be able to unlock your phone though

You do also have one-time use backup code when adding your key, so you would be able to login and reset passwords/remove keys

      • Hmm still a bit confused. this is a second factor device, right? So for example if the app need a password/fingerprint, then after we setup this key the app will still ask for pass/fingerprint, if correct THEN it will ask us to present the key.

        Does my understanding correct?

        • You are correct. It's a second factor device (it's possible to enable passwordless login to some services but only if you choose to).

This will increase your security profile not decrease it. It requires you to physically touch the Yubikey which thwarts a hacker who has remote control of your device. It's also phish proof, if you click a link/go to a fake website the Yubikey checks with the browser and won't provide the 2FA code to the dodgy site.

You're only as strong as the weakest link so don't enable other 2FA methods at the same time or as backup. So you need at least two Yubikey's/hardware tokens, one as a backup in case the main one gets lost etc.

  • Thanks, OP, bought 10 (seriously)!!!

  • +1

I am not a Cloudflare customer. I tried to still get these keys and accordingly registered my interest. Today I have received an email from Cloudflare that says I don't qualify. The email mentioned that -

"Cloudflare users can take advantage of this offer as long as their account is active as follows:
The account has an active zone, or
The account is actively using Cloudflare Zero Trust and
The account has not exceeded the amount of Yubico security keys available as part of this offer."

So, I perhaps can't have the keys as I don't fall into the categories?

    • I just commented with my own issue, but I actually have an Active Zone but have received the same email anyway? Makes no sense.

  • As other people have noted, seems to be upgraded to the 5 series A or C NFC and reduced to 4 per customer, not 10 for at least some people anyway.

  • Not sure what's going on here - I have received an email from CF stating that in order to qualify, I need an ActiveZone OR to be actively using Zero Trust.
I qualify under the Active Zone prerequisite.

I linked this to a mate of mine who also uses CF on his domain, and after not receiving an email (within a day of me sending the deal to him) he launched a ticket with CloudFlare, and shortly after that he received a promo code to use on Yubico's website.

I've now sent a ticket, and cannot understand how I don't qualify considering I meet the requirements stated in their email.

    WEIRD.

Bought 10 of the 5C, added my ABN in checkout for GST to be removed.

    • Can we put any abn ?

      • Yeh, the section was after you put in all the payment and billing details. I didn't really notice at first as I assumed it was a "comments" section.

    • I put my abn but still charged gst?

      • That's strange, once I entered my ABN it removed the GST. Checked the invoice and it definitely wasn't charged on my order.

        • This must an error/glitch on their part. An ABN doesn't entitle you not to be charged GST as you would know.

          • @gadget: It doesn't really matter either way, if you're charged GST and you're registered for the GST, so you claim it back, but if you put in your ABN and you're not registered for the GST if they don't charge it, the ATO will record it as a debt you owe them. Either way you will end up not paying/getting back the GST or owing the ATO if they don't charge it.

            • -1

@[Deactivated]: The point is not what you may owe the ATO but that the retailer is not allowed to not collect the GST regardless of whether you are registered or not.

              • @gadget: I believe if the company is overseas, they do not have to collect GST (ie Australia cannot enforce Australian laws in another country) - customs will collect it if it wasn’t collected.

          • +1

@gadget: It does for entities not based in Australia who collect GST on low value goods sold to consumers. I would recommend against using a random ABN as an online store collecting GST and sending it to the tax office is likely including details of GST free sales it made to eligible Australian businesses.

            edit found the ruling:

When is a recipient not a consumer of the supply?

            1. A supply is only connected with Australia under Subdivision 84-C if the recipient of the supply is a consumer of the supply. However, such a supply could also be connected with Australia under other provisions (see paragraphs 257 to 268 of this Ruling).

            2. A consumer is defined as an entity that is:

            • not registered for GST, or
            • if the entity is registered for GST, the entity did not acquire the thing either solely or partly for their enterprise carried on in Australia.[28]

            1. Section 84-105 allows a supplier to treat a recipient as not being a consumer if, based on certain information, they reasonably believe that the recipient is not a consumer.

            2. Under this section, a belief that the recipient is not a consumer will only be reasonable if:

            • the recipient's ABN[29] (or other prescribed information) has been disclosed to them, and
            • the recipient has provided a declaration or other information which indicates that they are registered for GST.

        • not for me

  • I finally got the email but was only allowed (4) keys. Why do people need so many? Why isn't one or two enough?

    • +1

Two should do most individuals, maybe three (in use, on-site spare, off-site spare) but some people would be buying for other family/staff members.

    • They probably don't need it. They know the market price of it and hoping to make a profit from the difference even if they sell at a discount.

  • Got the 'no active service' email a couple of days ago saying if I become an active customer while the promo is on I would qualify. Moved DNS for my domain to them, that should now be an active zone. Nothing since.

Did anyone get an automatic offer after jumping through the hoops, or should I open a support ticket?

    • I signed up for the free zero trust thingy just before getting an email, not sure if related but they were already hosting my DNS.

      • I moved DNS to them late last week (which I assume means it is an "Active Zone"), and then got the same email over the weekend, so no idea where I stand!
