  • Anyone know if this is good value if I want to book flights with Singapore Airlines (ie. The partnership)?

    • Depending on your Oz departure point, eg Hobart is bad….. Transfer to KrisFlyer miles is likely better value.

    • +1

      No.

Amex MR points are 2 for 1 when transferred to Virgin, and also 2 for 1 when Singapore.

And Virgin to Singapore is 1.55 for 1, even with 15% bonus it's worse off.

Better to wait for occasional (end-of-year?) bonus offers for transfers to KrisFlyer.

I found it easier and better availability to book rewards directly with Singapore, than with Virgin.

      YMMV

      • Cool cheers for the insights! Will wait a bit for krisflyer promotions to come by.

WithSingapore Airlines, you always have a better chance of finding reward seats on their own programme (KrisFlyer) than their partners. Since the transfer rate from MR to Velocity and MR to KF is the same, its better you stick with MR to KF.

      • Before old mate Covid came along, i was about to book a flight to NZ. I couldn't see many, but when I rang Sing Air direct, was presented with quite a few more options.. Can't see any NZ flights any more. Do you know if they still offer this leg?

        • No SQ flight anymore from AU to NZ, deleted during covid.. might come back but who knows

  • I'm trying to decide to transfer 200k AMEX to Velocity, or wait for bonus Krisflyer?

I have 130k Krisflyer sitting already, and they'll expire next June.

Answer is above I spose! I think they do the bonus in October or November normally.

    • +1

Pre covid very rarely has KF offered bonuses

      • Agreed, i would not be waiting’s around hoping to see a KrisFlyer bonus

        • Yeah I did take advantage of both the bonus offers they had including gold status

    • You can extend your 130K points for six months for small fee.

      • Yeah I know, it was hard enough finding business class flights a year ahead and I got long layovers.

Last year around October/November there was a bonus Krisflyer offer through AMEX

  • +1

Time to drain and dump the Amex I think.
It doesn't have the value it used to.

    • What else would you apply to get virgin points

  • +3

Damn Amex was 25% bonus a few months ago transferring to virgin. Should have done then

  • Waiting for the Krisflyer transfer offer……..

    • Read above.. extremely unlikely

In the last 6yrs I've been playing the points game they only offered bonuses during covid
