GOG is celebrating its 14th anniversary this week by:

Celebrate GOG’s 14 years of making games last forever

From its very beginning, GOG has been dedicated to making games last forever – by fixing classic titles to keep them playable on modern PCs, and preserving both new and old games by making them DRM-free – so there's never a need, now or in the far future, for remote servers to validate ownership.

Now it is time to celebrate the 14 years of these efforts – by releasing one of the most anticipated games by the community – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and launching the Anniversary event full of great deals and other surprises.

There’s no anniversary party without presents – Master of Magic Classic, a game that evokes massive nostalgia, is up for grabs in a giveaway. Dive into this epic adventure and play as a powerful wizard leading an army to victory. One of the most popular strategy games of the 90s is available for free until Sunday, October 2nd, 10 PM UTC.

Let's have a look at the anniversary’s hot deals, focused on classics and games that, in the course of time, are even more praised for their game design and playability. Our store offer include: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (-70%), Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition (-86%), Unreal Tournament GOTY (-80%) or Just Cause (-80%). Plenty of classics are available only on GOG such as Unreal Tournament GOTY (-80%) or SWAT 4 Gold Edition (-50%), The Wheel of Time (-30%), Worms 2 (-80%), Settlers® 3: Ultimate Collection (-75%).

Join us in celebration of the 14th GOG Anniversary which will last until October 9th, 2022, at 10 PM UTC.

A few games have been discounted to match previous or reach new GOG store-low prices:

Release: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

It is worth mentioning that Skyrim on GOG comes with a dedicated build, to give users the best possible adventure in Tamriel. The game is entirely playable offline thanks to GOG’s DRM-free nature and gives users the Anniversary Edition content without the need for Creation Club access.

As the game is recognized as one of the most modded titles in the history of video games, support for community-created content in Skyrim was one of our top priorities. The GOG version is compatible out of the box with most modifications mods via Nexus Mods Vortex v1.6.12 and newer. Support for mods requiring Skyrim Script Extender will be added later today. Additionally, GOG is preparing something special to provide an even smoother experience with mods – expect more details soon.

Take the chance to travel to Tamriel before the discounts on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim editions end on 13th October, 10 PM UTC. Also, join us in celebration of the 14th GOG Anniversary which will last until October 9th, 2022, at 10 PM UTC.

    • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is currently $15.41 AUD off Green Man Gaming (Steam DRM)

    • and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is currrently $27.18 AUD also off Green Man Gaming (also Steam DRM).

The Anniversary Edition can be had slightly cheaper I think off some other third-party key sellers/marketplaces, but not worth the hassle IMO for that ~$1 saving. GMG is a good source to purchase from.

There is something magical about the older games that brings back memories and takes me back to a time when things were simpler. This collection includes titles that hold a special place in my heart and deserve to be remembered. I hope it will inspire you to enjoy them one more time or discover the gems of the past that you didn’t play yet.

My adventure with video games started when my family got an Atari 65XE (which I treasure to this day). Seeing how the industry developed from simple “get the best score” games to epic stories and adventures, was what made me fall in love with it, and always want to have something to do in this field! With my collection, I wanted to showcase some of the games of different genres that I discovered during my early days of PC gaming and that helped me form my taste in games.

Welcome, brave adventurer! The stories of your achievements are truly impressive. You saved the world in Deus Ex, won countless battles in Heroes of Might and Magic III, learned what can change the nature of a man, and brought back the G.E.C.K to the village. Yet countless other adventures still await here, at GOG.com. While some titles don’t stand the test of time, others are just as wonderful now as they were almost 30 years ago. Their riveting tales and engaging gameplay are something truly worth preserving and experiencing. Here is a list of some of the really good old games which I have enjoyed over the years, and I hope you will enjoy them too.

There is something magical in looking back into the past and thinking about movies, books, games of your childhood and ways they imacted you growing up. And there's a memory behind every game you see on that list - be it high school tournamets in DOOM, hours spent on mastering fatalities in Mortal Kombat, or the very first encounter with RPG thanks to my friend's Amiga 500 and Eye of the Beholder. If any of these games will pick your interest - I hope you'll enjoy them just as much as I did years ago. Have fun!

My love for shooters started when my dad bought our first used PC in the early 2000s and I found Return to Castle Wolfenstein already installed on it. I spent more hours in this game than I care to admit. Then I jumped into MoH: AA and I still remember how blown away I was by Omaha Beach mission. From there I played hundreds of other shooters and I still do to this day. Most recently I can't put away my new favorite retro FPS - HROT, and I'm counting the days to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 release.

Hi everyGOGy! Your friendly neighbourhood Technical Support here very excited to share some of my top games with you. When gaming, I always try to look for that sense of disconnecting myself from reality and experiencing something unique and unforgettable. An interesting storyline is just as important to me as how it is being told. This is reflected in my love for the RPG genre in general. This collection is composed of games that, I hope, will leave a lasting impression on you. PS. Can't stress enough that, if you haven't played Planescape Torment yet then, DEU IT!
