    3-Pack mesh = 3 x $100 annual electricity

  • -3

    3-Pack mesh = 3 x 30w x 24 x 365 = 3 x 263kw annual electricity usage = 3 x $92/year Electricity cost

Electricity Usage: 789 kw / year

    Electricity Cost: $276 / year (say $0.35/kw)

    • To be fair, you need to deduct the power usage of your current router that you will no longer need to use uses.

Link to show these are 30w each ?

      • The datasheet on the TP Link website says:

        · Power Consumption (with power adapter): 30 W max
        · Power Adapter Input: 100-240 V ~ 50/60 Hz 0.8 A
        · Power Adapter Output: 12 V 2.5 A

        If that helps you.

Max is the key here. A 30W powersupply doesn't mean it runs at 30W 24/7.
I'd pluck 30% as an average, given a lot of 20W routers report as 6W average.

  • Any deal for mesh AX3600+ from other brands like Asus?

I like these, but my brain can't process the addition of the paywall.

    • You don't need to pay unless you need the features. But if you do or just don't want tp link invading your privacy, Asus xt8 goes on sale for around 750 for 2 units. Was gonna get it but I needed 3 so just didn't make sense for me.

      • I want XT8 as well, too expensive at the moment. Waiting to go back down to 750 or so. Plus I have another older model asus running and will fit right into their mesh system.

With the paywall subscription, I'm sorry, most of the stuff behind the paywall are basic security, Port Intrusion Prevention, DDOS and others.

        • lol why be sorry. The majority haven't and likely won't need those features. I've got a feeling a lot of people still just have to learn to stop clicking on crap they shouldn't click on. As a workaround, you can run the mesh as an access point and connect it to your router with all added features you need. Probably still cheaper than the xt8. I'll probably do this when I can be bothered.

    • what paywall does this have? all tp link mesh have it?

  • Paywall is for the advanced features protecting from online attacks and to have more parental controls.
Thing putting me off with the Deco line is that even if you don’t want the the non paywall stuff, it still sends data back to China main server using Avira whether you like it or not.
    You can’t disable it.
