So my number was part of the Optus data breach, no problem, got a new number through my new carrier and just going through the process of telling all of my services & friends my new number. With companies I've generally got to call as the change of number has broken all 2FA security.
Now we get to PayPal…
Both numbers to contact them in Oz are broken. When I try to call, either 1800 073 263 or 8223 9500 they come up as invalid carrier access code. Tried on two mobiles and the landline.
And attempting to log in via website or mobile app only ends up in a circular loop to get an SMS for 2FA. Even to contact them via the app requires SMS 2FA… FFS!
I have emailed their escalations account, but I'm hesitant to give details to someone who called me. I would MUCH prefer to contact them on a number that I can confirm where I am actually talking to them and not someone in Mumbai. That would kind of defeat the purpose of this whole affair. Any suggestions on how to contact PayPal directly?
try putting 02 in front of the 8223 #. they kinda have a trashy customer service that mostly requires a log in
i just logged in and had a look for you, i got a different number than the ones you've listed but they make you put in a unique number specific to your account to verify id so i doubt this method would be much help either
two things you can try, a long shot would be the app if you have it already on your phone, second would be the community thread perhaps an admin/cust serv can pm you some help
