  • Hmm my 3000 getting a bit old but probably ok still, battery maybe not the best. Not sure how long they are supposed to last.

    Cheers

    • My old Oral B Triumph 5000 which I purchased in 2017 is still going very well today. The batteries in our brushes are NiMH, so make sure you do a full discharge once every few months. I normally run my toothbrush until the battery indicator light flashes to say that it needs recharging.

      • Cheers, should do that.
I've just noted if I take the brush away for a weekend without the charging base it runs slower within not too long.

      • +2

All the Smart range (1-5) are Li-ION, so no need for a full discharge. In fact probably best to recharge as soon as light starts flashing…
Got a Smart 1 in the recent Coles sale, it replaced a 5+ year old 500 which was on last battery legs. A big improvement, including a bright red light which flashes whenever you put too much pressure on your teeth - now that's a pretty good feature IMO.

        • Yeah my 3000 does that, you have to be pressing pretty hard, and get used to it quickly.

Gotta be over 10-15y old I guess .

Can't see many batteries on eBay, seems to be a type 3766 or 3767.

  • Battery will need replacing every 4 years or so but cheap and easy to do. Plenty on eBay. I actually got a bigger upgraded battery for my 2010 Oral B Triumph (the ones with digital display) around the 5 year mark (2015) and now it is reaching its 2nd replacement stage after 7 years. The Oral B itself still going strong. $20-$30 for new battery on eBay and you are good to go for another 5-7 years. I think it will outlive me. Saying that, I don’t know what the quality of Oral B itself is like now, the pre 2012 models seems to be built to last forever.

    • Isn't the battery is soldered?

      • You open it up, cut the tabs from the existing battery, solder tabs to new battery, close it. Hardest thing is to make sure it's still waterproof after.

Thanks + LOL at that person who owns a soldering iron, has the skill and said "easy to do".

          • +1

@pizzaguy: Some replacement eBay batteries come with pre soldered tabs. Some cheaper ones you need to solder yourself if you want to save a few dollars on eBay.

            • @dreamscene: Any idea of which one suits the Pro 3000? I don't mind an 'upgraded' battery if it fits.

I have only really found this listing:
              Replacement Toothbrush Battery For Braun Oral-B Triumph V2 3728 3761 3762 3764

Edit: geezs looking at the YouTube video it's a lot of de-soldering and soldering, unless my model is different. Should have got one from Amazon, but would probably then have to just bin the old one.

Could almost go halves with someone and keep my base (not on the Northside nor Costco member).

      • It’s not a drop in solution but also not too hard. Many tutorials online.

    • Happen to have a link for the battery I mentioned above, couldn't see any that suit the Pro 3000?
      Cheers.

  • Thanks! Grabbed one for the missus

  • 2 pack for $160 in Costco online. You can expect $20-$30 off specials every few months.

    • You're right, the dual head of everything is a better proposition

  • I can't seem to see the $89 option - options here: https://i.imgur.com/eVheGBQ.png

    • +1

      Yeah, run out of options.

      • Makes the decision easier.

Been using if for over a year - can confirm:
    - battery is lithium (hence can charge after each use without worrying about memory effect)
    - bluetooth is only useful to turn off the unnecessary brushing modes

  • How does this compare to the 1500 at coles for $30 in regards to cleaning the teeth not the price

  • Actually I'm thinking I may grab the Oral-B Genius 8000 dual handle for $199 (shaver shop), and sell one of the handles (and a travel case/base I have perhaps). I'm not sure what the upgraded charging base difference is but i'm sure it will work with the standard base.

Would be a decent upgrade from my old NiMH 3000 series which is getting pretty old.
