Why are Bunnings so hard to deal with - Friend purchased an item for $180, same item on offer in Qld for $99.95 and even after I showed the receipt they still said the price was $249 as a clearance item. Lots of rubbish about our stock must be at 5 or lower to make a decision. Would not offer the price I have a receipt for and was happy to pay $180. So much for price guarantees
So go to QLD and buy it?

Welcome to OzB. Price guarantees always exclude clearance items, nothing new there.
i once tried to get them to price match ceiling insulation, but they wouldn't do it because i wanted a commercial/trade quantity (enough for 1 residential house). but they were fine to price match a couple of bags.

yeah bunnings dont really price match different bunnings store's prices. Its always a hit or miss (mostly a miss though). I never had a luck with them price matching another store.
Was this a local instore only markdown clearance price in qld? If this is the case, you ll have 280 (approx number of bunnings stores) difference markdowns on the same item depending on which side of the bed the manager got up on.

Also as you said, it was a 'clearance' item, so up to the store how much they slash the price to clear the stock.
Bunnings Warehouse, Lowest Prices are just an old broken promise from the 90's.
They're still cheaper than the Hardware shop down the road….Oh wait, that closed down a few years back.
I still pay too much for stuff at my local hardware store… small town an hour drive from Bunnings in a slightly larger small town. Otherwise it'd probably be dead too.

To complete the store: Got crap from Carrum Downs on trying to but at $180. Whet to Cranbourne and no probs with a $180 purchase (Bargain). Friend has since purchased in Sydney at $99.95 matching Bunnings Virgina after being bounced by the first Bunnings. One price one policy is BS. Have a shot at it as the Nail Gun Kit is cheap at $180 and amazing at $100
I found it's a hit or miss even if you are polite and ask like you do not know the price beat guarantee.
