Chargeback - Returned Items More than 90 Days Ago

Long story short, I returned an unopened item more than 90 days ago and was successfully delivered back to the company.

However, after the item was received by the company, they ceased communication with me and will not respond to my emails regarding the refund. I opened a chargeback dispute via Up as I paid for the item with my debit card. The return was sent via Auspost and the return label was provided by the company themselves. I do have a physical proof of lodgement receipt from the Post Shop but the online tracking status was changed to "Pending" as there has been no activity for 90 days since the "Delivered" status.

The chargeback is still being dealt with at the moment but I'm not sure if it will be approved without the online tracking evidence. I don't think I can request anything to prove it's been delivered from Auspost as both the receiver and sender field from the prepaid label are filled in with the address of the company.

Was wondering if anyone else had similar experience with MasterCard chargebacks and what was the result?

Update:
Finally got the refund after 2 months of waiting.

  • Call Auspost and get them to confirm the status or send you an email with that confirmation - use that in your chargeback supporting documentation.

Send an email to the seller with the above confirmation and if no response, also attach that as supporting documentation.

Nothing anyone can really suggest until MasterCard come back with their stance on the chargeback

  • auspost is annoying. they hide tracking info after a short period of time after it is delivered. but they still do have the tracking info on their system.

  • I'm not sure if the ePayments code cover chargebacks for returns. Unopened or not. Once you receive the Item, then that transaction is complete.
The return is offered at the discretion of the merchant.
