A fantastic example of an IPA with a more malty profile than the rest, and just the right amount of bitterness. With yeast flown in from the USA, this is a refreshing blend of New World hops, citrus and malt. With their “beer first, no shortcuts” approach to brewing, Sydney-based brewery Modus Operandi caught our eye immediately. A new beer to Vintage Cellars, this is a fantastic example of an IPA with a more malty profile than the rest, and just the right amount of bitterness. The brewery's smart marketing (including displaying a "package date" on their products), sleek and stylish can and keg designs, and commitment to quality (including going the extra mile - literally - to fly yeast in from the USA), makes these beers a standout from its many competitors. But it was its Sonic Prayer IPA, with a refreshing blend of new world hops, citrus and malt, that won us over and found itself the clear Best IPA.
