Car MP3/USB Transmitter

Hey,

My car only has a cd player. Really want to play music from my usb/mp3 player. Was wondering if anyone can direct me to a good quality transmitter.

I've checked ebay but i don't know how good those are. If anyone has bought previously and has found it to be good, please advise.

Not too fussed about the price, as long as its reasonable.

Thanks in advance!

  • You really can not go wrong with the cheap ones.
I normally buy 4-5 of the $2 ones.
They generally last about 8-12 months.
Does me for what i want.
Can't bring myself to buy any of the dear ones as (1) cost. and (2) they are normally limited in what frequency you can use, where the cheap cinese ones don't care.

  • if your not too fussed about the price spend a few dollars more and install a new unit yourself

  • I've bought the cheap Chinese ones off eBay for my car and for a friend's car. From memory, they cost around $5-10 each including the blutooth functionality. Works quite well for my needs and I've had it for 3+ years. Reasonably clear audio (needs a bit of patience initially to find an FM frequency that is free). The bluetooth is a bit of a pain to operate if you are driving due to the small buttons. But otherwise, no real complaints.

  • There are so many different brands on ebay and they span in wide range of prices. That makes it harder to choose which one to buy. Can someone recommend a link to buy a reasonable quality one for a good price.

I bought this type (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-Channel-LCD-FM-Transmitter-Car-…) on ebay and been using it for at least a year now. For that price, Im pretty damn happy, its still working fine, still on my first pair of batteries. Occasionally I get some small white noise, but goes away at certain positions.
I cant compare it with branded/expensive ones as Ive never used one.

I take it you have an FM radio also?! If so, you can a cheap get FM transmitter that plugs into your lighter socket. Set the FM freq you want to listen on and then tune in your FM radio to the same.

The transmitter has a line in so you can plug your MP3 player directly into it. Sounds complicated but very easy and a very cheap solution. You can find them on eBay but ive noticed Woolies have them for about $10 in the section where they sell blank CD's, memory cards etc.

    Here is one for example.
