Hi All,
Anyone know where I can buy the extra large pork dumplings you get in some of the takeaways? All I can find is the standard sized ones in the supermarkets. For reference, ones like this:- https://images.app.goo.gl/DXv2kYi1XJAwswjx9
Thanks!

I agree, make them yourself, but you will probably need to make the flour mix yourself (quite easy but time consuming), or maybe lasagna sheets? It's quite easy. I've never noticed large gyoza's/dumplings at some of our Local Asian Grocer. I generally avoid Colesworth where possible, unless its something on a decent special, so unsure what they have.
maybe lasagna sheets

Uncle Roger don't approve?
@BewareOfThe Dog: I heard that he cries everytime someone adds chilli jam to their dinner
Making them is hard, takes too long & I've tried two Asian grocery stores with no luck so far.
Have you tried Korean grocery stores? Not sure if they have large Pork ones but they definitely have a wide variety of dumplings.
I haven't, we have a couple of local Asian grocers but I don't think they are specifically Korean focused
just eat 2 instead?
some of the takeaways
Surely they’d be home made ?
Just ask if theyd be interested in selling some frozen for you. There is absolutely no reason they would refute you surely.
Good idea, but lots of Japanese shops sell them so I assume they are purchased ready made.
True - actually when you said take away shop I imagined an Asian owned and operated fish n chip shop. The size of some of those fried dimmies around my local fish and chip shops exceeds my kids’ fist size ffs.
I now realise you probably meant a ramen shop or similar lol
Yeah they are likely sourced from a supplier but does not mean that they are available in retail.
Make it yourself. Supermarket sells dumpling wraps, then pinch the edges together to make a really big dumpling wrap out of them, then stuff it with pork and gristle or whatever is in dumplings.
I did think but all the dumpling wraps are the small ones
What if you bought some small plates so it looked bigger?
Just stick to your pork pies Yorkshire-Man, they are much tastier
Pork pies are good… but dumplings are better
There’s a small shop/grocer on the main road near Strathfield station that sell these, or at least they had them a few years ago. It’s on the left side of the road if walking away from the station, I think they were frozen.
I haven't been in a few years but there was this restaurant in Ashfield that sold them takeaway frozen. I think it was Shanghai Night, but it could have been one of the other Shanghai restaurants very close to it. They sold frozen dumplings as well as serving them in the restaurant. Otherwise there's heaps of Asian grocers around there you could also try.
There is a Japanese food wholesaler in melb that used to post deals here, but haven't seen any from them lately. If anything they would be the best place to start.
I think they are called JFC online?
I just looked them up, they have "Large" 30g ones, but they appear to be sold out
