We got a Canon EOS500 from a street flea market in Singapore yesterday, for $10 and were just wanting to know costs associated with purchasing film and getting it developed. I have done a quick google/ebay search, and have somewhat of an idea, do any Aussie stores have sales on for this kinda stuff? Cheers.
35mm film(and development of the film) and CR123 batteries.

does film processing - on line shop has prices.Awesome, thanks very much guys. Any idea about the best place to get the film?
Just to give you an idea of how cheap photography has become with digital, what I paid for one roll of slide film (not including processing) in the bad old days would now buy a SD card capacious enough for an entire holiday. There was a reason why you found the film SLR camera in a flea market.
We already have a Canon EOS600D, but it is the fact it is in such good condition and the character of it, $10 is nothing for it, really.
You might be able to use the EF mount lens on a DSLR but it would probably be an undistinguished 50mm focal length. Lens technology has also improved over the years and what comes as standard with DSLRs now was premium for FSLRs. But 10 SGD is cheap for a keepsake.
However the other day I was listening to an ABC program about some photographers who like the visual qualities of film. Just like some audiophiles like tube amps or turntables I suppose.
i would suggest dealextreme for the CR123 batteries…heaps to choose from…probably best to get rechargeables and a charger to boot…shouldn't be more than $15 i think.
