  • So many providers offered “unlimited” storage then realised its not actually viable and folded or rescinded the offer.

    • How much storage could a single site take?

      • as a general rule of thumb most don't take anymore than 10GB

        • +3

So what's the cut off on this? what is the # that will trigger your fair used policy?

Looks like it's ~50gb. Why not just say 50gb?

Unmetered Bandwidth and Storage Policy (Applies to Older Unlimited Plans before 1st January 2022)
Although we do not have a hard limit on the amount of storage, we do have a fair use policy of the average web site being 30GB-50GB per hosting account. This is an acceptable limit for a shared hosting service. As long as your the files uploaded are related to your web site we allow this. If you anticipate higher usage we recommend VPS, At this time we do not offer this product. We do not allow Download sites, Tube Sites, Adult Sites or anything we deem illegal. If unsure please reach out via a support ticket or live chat.

          • -1

@lulzenberg: Because we do not have a hard limit, as mentioned. If we put a limit on say 50GB then if they need 60GB they would have to purchase additional space, this is a one off deal.

If you wish to have the 50GB limit you can find our OZbargain that deal here and you can host unlimited domains.

Because we do not have a hard limit, as mentioned.

              Lie!

You do have a hard limit, you just won't tell us!

You say 60GB is OK. What about 70GB? 80GB?

              • -1

@photonbuddy: as mentioned, if you have a web site and is a size of 80GB then it is fine. Shared hosting is for web sites not file hosting. any more questions happy to answer… Would you like a trial?

if you have a web site and is a size of 80GB then it is fine.

I call BS on this. Why say 50GB in your TOS if you're happy for 60GB?

Shared hosting is for web sites not file hosting.

You don't need to host files to have a huge website.

                  Would you like a trial?

I haven't used an unlimited host for yonks, and actively avoid them. Why would I want a business relationship with a company that starts out by being dishonest?

                  • -1

@photonbuddy: @photonbuddy i'm sorry we cannot gain your trust. obviously this product is not for you and we are now sold out. If you wish to have a limit on storage majority of our plans have this. wish you all the best in your future endeavours and have a fantastic week ahead!

A business that lies to potential customers, and blames everyone else when they are caught? And you expect trust?

                      If you wish

I wish companies wouldn't lie to customers.

We have been going for 2 years…and this is not an issue..please read our fair use policy in our ToS

      • +1

Where is your ToS/Fair Use Policy? I can't see it linked anywhere and the knowledge base is empty?

Nvm, found it on the main site, i'd been clicking the URL to the deal.

The price after the first year? And can we have multiple Wordpress apps?

    • Host only one domain you can have subdomains if you wish.

Unlimited SSD Storage * Fair Use Policy

In other words: We are fibbing and being misleading.

Why even bother saying unlimited, when you know it's not unlimited, never will be unlimited, and anyone who actually tries will get kicked off.

    Very poor form these days.

    • -2

Fair Use policy, a web site that is 1TB is not fair use. it's common sense.

      • +4

Then it’s not unlimited… Common sense.

        • -1

There are no limits on web sites

          • +2

            @[Deactivated]: Read your own TOS…

we do have a fair use policy of the average web site being 30GB-50GB per hosting account. This is an acceptable limit for a shared hosting service.

That sounds like a limit on websites. Suggesting unlimited is highly misleading as are your comments here. Not a good look.

            • @Hybroid: you're missing out the part in our ToS that states although we do not have a hard limit, if you have a site that is 60GB and its a legitimate web site there is no problem.

      • +3

Who says 1TB is not fair use?

What a customer thinks is fair use changes on a regularly basis, you aren't the fair use gods to decide what is fair or not.

        Advertising "unlimited" is misleading.

        • Who says 1TB is not fair use?
This would be not acceptable…this plan is designed for users that have a site and they do not want to go over their account limit.

          • +1

            @[Deactivated]:

and they do not want to go over their account limit

How does one have an account limit on an unlimited plan?

Sorry, you know full well that what you are doing is marketing BS that only annoys people.

Just be honest. The type of person taking out this type of hosting isn't going to be running a 50GB site … or they are stupid.

            • @photonbuddy: @photonbuddy really sorry you don't like the way we market our products. Everything we have said has been said over and over and unfortunately we cannot win everyone's business. We do wish you all the best in your endevors finding a suitable web host :)

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: You are a dishonest company who doesn't know right from wrong.

                • @samfisher5986: I'm sorry you feel that way. We have not lied about anything, people are getting hung up on the word unlimited this is aimed at the average person that does not want to have to worry about bill shock. It's written in our ToS a storage guide line however, if a customer has a legitimate reason to use more that is in our guide line we are fine with that. Are you a customer? Calling our company dishonest before you have tried is a bit disappointing. If you would like to give us a go happy to help you out.

                  • @[Deactivated]:

We have not lied about anything

Yes, yes you have. You told us the plan was unlimited. It is not. That is a bald face lie, and you know it.

that does not want to have to worry about bill shock.

Instead, they have to worry about being turfed off their host because of some imaginary number the host deems as a limit to their unlimited plan.

Calling our company dishonest before you have tried is a bit disappointing.

Doesn't matter if your service is the best in the business. You are dishonest because you claim unlimited, and then tell us in the fine print that it's not unlimited. That's dishonest. You can try to justify it however you like, but it will never change the fact that it's plainly dishonest.

                    • @photonbuddy: I will not be commenting on these anymore as we are going around in circles. Have a wonderful day.

                      • @[Deactivated]:

I will not be commenting on these anymore

In other words: I've been caught out, and now it's time to stop digging!

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: You mean you want the average customer to pay you money in the hopes they don't realise its not unlimited.

If you were being honest you would put the real limits in the description rather then "unlimited"

You are hiding it in your ToS because you are dishonest.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: How about email? Ie 20GB per user x 50 users. Do you consider that as fair use?

            • @Indomietable: We have a 10GB limit per mailbox.

  • +2

Woohoo, just in time for my new warez site!

What's you BW throttling like??? ;-)

    • ToS state no illegal web sites.

    • What year you living in? warez is soo 1980's.

      • +1

Yeah I figured the youth of today wouldn't know what it is and it'd slip through. I even had InspIRCd ready to install:-) cya on channel #warez

  • Important thing to note when deciding if this plan is right for you they don't allow you to SSH in on this plan ($55 deal above). Spoke with customer service on their web form livechat to find out if they allow Mastodon hosting.

    • That's correct, we don't allow Mastodon hosting, however ssh is available on our Business Premium plan.

  • Sorry folks we had an overwhelming response of users signup for this deal and is now sold out! we do still have our $135 deal per year here

    • +1

81 clicks and most have been negging your offer, how do you get overwhelming signups. Lol

    • Lol 81 clicks is overwhelming
      Was there even 10 available?

      • +1

We only had 40 available at this price. This was recurring

  • +1

As mentioned you can get a 24 hour trial on all our services no credit card needed. It's important to note this.

  • Why do I smell something fishy here?

    • Personally don't like fish :)

  • +1

wow.. talk about rookie. You haven't learnt from others mistakes advertising an obvious limited fair use… as unlimited BS!

is your business in for the long haul or just capitalising on here and there ozb? imagine the uproar on Reddit or Whingepool on this type of dodginess.

    • We have been around for 2 years and have many happy clients. We are also a registered business. If you would like to try us out happy to set you up an account for you to try as we have a 24 hour trial on all our services with no credit card needed.

      • +1

        • We never said we were not new…. 2 years is still new, we understand where you're coming from and it is important when you have that many clients. We hope one day you will try us out. Have a great night!

  • Quote, As mentioned we offer a 24 hour trial on all our services just head over to our web site and talk to one of our agents.

    Wow you guys sound confident

    • We do this mostly to prevent abuse of the service. If you want longer and have question just let us know.

Posting for any future ozbargainers that may consider them - Signed up - servers were slow and overloaded. Definitely better options out there locally. Seems owner has disabled their ozbargain account (maybe after critical feedback on this forum). Looking them up, owner is also "In the Penalty Box" over at whirlpool. Not a professional look or feel to this company.

    • thanks for posting this, was actually looking for a website host, found this and was about the roll the dice.
thanks very much for saving me the trouble.

      • Hi @sc00terMcTav the above user is in the Penalty Box and we have replied to his post for clarification. I do hope you try us out, i'm sure you will be very satisfied with the service we provide.

    • We offered you a free trial and advised you we were moving servers as we were running on Linode and they were having issues. Upon your account being moved to the new servers you were very happy with the service, We don't advertise over on Whirlpool hence we asked for our account to be disabled. However they don't remove accounts they put them in the Penalty Box. I can see you are also in the Penalty Box here on OZbargin due to just signing up.
