  • It's a good price. but I'd prefer a diver's watch on a bracelet, rather than a nato strap - they can be found at around $249 price point with bracelets when they are on special.

    • +5

Seiko bracelets aren't worth a $10 premium let alone a $35 one; they are notoriously trash and there's not one I have liked (on their cheaper releases) since the OG Monster. I'd rather same my pennies, and get an aftermarket bracelet if I really wanted one.

      • +1

What is wrong with them? I only have one Seiko (a Seiko 5) and the bracelet has been fine.

        • +1

i've got a few and it is very rare to find an affordable seiko with a decent metal bracelet. i've just taken to buying them with the cheapest band option and getting a third-party steel bracelet replacement as soon as it arrives

        • The reason many Seikos are such a great price is because they often skimp on the strap and keep the watch itself excellent. Heck, it's a pretty common thing for every watch under $300 in my opinion.

          • @Deadalready: I had a closer look at the band of another Seiko 5, today. This one is older and a bit cheaper than mine. The links did look a bit cheaper at the ends.

Mine, however, I really can't fault the build quality, except for the infamous misaligned diver bezel.
It's my daily watch and it's taken a few hits now but it only has superficial scratches.
There have been multiple occasions where it's hit a metal pole and I've thought 'well, that's finally put a dent in it', only to look at the watch and see nothing.

      • Personally, I've never had an issue with a Seiko bracelet. Nato straps are for field watches - not divers. With rotation and a bit of luck, I only wear a watch a few days a year and an aftermarket bracelet for any Seiko isn't worth the effort and cost.

Please hand in your Ozbargain membership if you buy a Seiko SKX007 in 2022.

        • +21

Wow thanks, not sure I deserved that. Looking at my stats the majority of my watch posts are from Starbuy.

        • +6

          Why are you so angry?
The watch in this deal isn't for me (I like bracelets) but it's still a nice watch at a good price. I appreciate seeing watch bargains, whether or not the watch is my style.

who hurt you? need a hug?

        • +1

Hey mate, no need to be aggressive here. While I didn't buy most of the watches WatchNerd posted but I scored one or two in the past thanks to him.

This is a community to help each other saving money or spend more in my case :).

I don't see anything wrong with your initial comment, each to their own. I also think WatchNerd should have explained better. I can see where you are coming from.

No need to get angry or pointing out who can/cannot afford something.

          Enjoy your day!

        • Not having a good day?

      • @WatchNerd sorry for my ignorance, why is the SKX007 looked down upon in 2022?

          • +8

@[Deactivated]: You mean he’s not stupid enough to get ripped off.

            • -7

@martygeeoz: You mean like buying a Haval instead of a Land Cruiser because you're "not stupid enough to get ripped off". Genius.

              • @[Deactivated]: It’s more like buying a Landcruiser Prado instead on Landcruiser Series 80. Cheaper and downgrade for enthusiasts, but provides quality of life improvement for most.

            • +6

              @martygeeoz: Agreed.

I wouldn't pay the asking prices now for an SKX at triple or more than what they were originally.

Besides it's only a small amount of people that will care if you have an SKX or this Seiko 5.
I've been wearing an SKX as a daily beater to work and not a single person has said anything about it over the past 10 years.

Only difference people cant get over is the ISO certified which SKX fanatics can't let go of.
I mean who is going to actually dive 200m?
On top of that this newer model has a better movement and can be hacked.

I'm not bashing the SKX as I own a handful of them but comparing this to the SKX constantly is just stupid.
People who want an SKX (which is a small market in the whole world) will find a way to get one.

No need for these pointless comments that its a poor mans SKX etc. No one in the real world cares

        • +5

They are way overpriced right now. Unless you really dive, the sk5 range is better in every way. The appeal of the skx was it was cheap and rated for diving.

      • I dont get this joke. Can you pls explain!

  • +2

Wow…… has this post turned sour..

    • Mmm… salty.

Decent deal on this 5KX. Only problem I see will getting deals on the 5KXs, so many colourways. If you want one you want in particular, it might take awhile.

NATO then get a solid end link aftermarket once you get bored would be my call.

Bracelet isn't too bad, I feel it has improved, still think the Jubilee for the skx, which wasn't that well regarded, had its own charm.

If all else fails. Wax your arm hairs.

  • This is a good looking watch. How does pagani aliexpress sort of watches fare with this Seiko?

    • +1

Seiko 5 are made in China, I don't think they are worth a premium over a Chinese watch with a Seiko mechanism.

    • +2

A lot of them are very good now, with fit and finish YMMV, depending how on model. I haven't played with any of the same case shape as yet. Obviously lots of straight out "homages".

A lot of them have same Seiko movement, NH36 is a 4r36, just produced for other companies.

I have found a few little issues with AliExpress watches like the bezel click smoothness, part interchangeability. etc etc, but in general they are fine. Most bracelets are trash though.

Sapphire vs hardlex, you're not going to know what they are putting on the paganis, hardlex is pretty hard wearing for desk diving.

With Seiko, you know what you're getting I suppose and Amazon, hassle free returns.

      • Yeah from what I can read. They all seem to use Seiko movements which are pretty reliable. Their bracelets are trash but that's ezy fix with 3rd part bracelets or mesh straps. If anything, just worried about long term durability and reliability over a few years

        • Seiko's usually last a life time if you look after it

  • +1

Good deal. I have one in black with an aftermarket jubilee. Nice looking watch but I find the underside of the crown guard is a bit too pointy and can dig in at times. The turtles are way more comfy.

    • This is less intrusive than having an exposed Crown at the 3 o'clock

      • I disagree as I have other watches with exposed 3 o’clock crowns that wear more comfy than this. But everyone’s different.

  • Any spring drive watch deals?

  • Decent price

  • $278 now

    • Available now for $215.85 delivered.

      • +1

        Got one thanks

  • Thanks for all your posts @WatchNerd, any chance you think the $399 price is getting repeated on the Citizen Eco-Drive CB5919-00X at all? I have heart set on that.

    • +1

Starbuy don't have that in stock anymore. Maybe the rep could tell you @Star Jewels.

    • +2

Hi there @blues99. Just checked in with Citizen. No stock on hand of the CB5919-00X. We are waiting for a list of offers for our upcoming long weekend sale so fingers crossed for some good stock in there. Thanks

      • Great thanks.
