Help Solve Our Wi-Fi Setup Issue!

Hi all,

We have just moved over from Superloop to Exetel.

We are unable to establish an internet connection using the provided Exetel username and password.

Our modem is the Netcomm NF18ACV which was originally purchased from Spintel (which is what we started our NBN setup with), and it does not have Basic Settings.

When we initially moved from Spintel to Superloop, it was straight forward as far as adding the WAN service - however, we just cannot get it to work with Exetel now, when trying the same method.

This was the process:

Add WAN Service
eth4/eth4

PPPoE, IPV4 Only

Exetel Username and Password, Auto authentication, MTU: 1492
KeepAlive, NAT, Firewall all Enabled

Routing - Default Gateway - Skipped
DNS Server Configuration - Skipped

Apply/Save

Press "Connect"

Nothing happens.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Did Exetel ask you to use an alternate port on the hub?

    Call exetel support.

    • We tried this, they weren't able to assist, due to the router being "third party" and not having Basic Settings.

    What did exetel support say?

    • Looks like OP gas gone AWAL or cannot use a phone.

  • what kind of NBN do you have ? FTTC ?
Do you have a separate NCD ? if so you can directly connect PC to NCD ethernet port and test with PPPoE connection at PC.

  • I reckon this is something Exetel have to fix up on their end. It's not your router. Double check that the username and password are entered correctly and you're not mixing zero 0 and O or lower case L and 1.

    Did you reboot the modem

Did you then reboot your PC?

    • Rebooted and reset, no luck

    Factory reset

    • Tried this also, it just resets back to the previous settings, leaving us stuck

  • Depending on your router see if you need to implement NAT Masquerade or MSS Clamping. See this post: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/3kpy5qpn

  • Buy a Telstra smart modem 2 or 3 off marketplace, solved. $50 is the going rate. The 3 has wifi 6 and good range

Ye was thinking a new router might just be the way to go…
