Has anyone tried linking QFF with a different surname to the Everyday rewards account? It seems the surname needs to match but I wonder if anyone has tried otherwise and the points transfer has still gone through.
Thanks OP
20 cards, bought $3 worth of 15c bags and pocketed $200 worth of points
Close to $3k in points on all cards banked for christmas
Close to $3k in points on all cards banked for christmas
Yikes! I would use them up soon before you get hacked.
$3 worth of 15c bags
Seems a tad bit wasteful unless you are donating the excess.
That was the cheapest option for the best ROI
As you're saving for Christmas purchases I would have been buying some stuff for Christmas now.
It's only 3 months away.
@mysterytal: Banked Christmas points can be accumulated for larger purchases later.
@INFIDEL: You would be risking losing all of the banked points. The response from Woolworths is that the login ID and passwords of the accounts have been used to access the customers points. They will reinstate the points but you're risking that they might change their mind. Banking for Christmas isn't safe but is safer than auto converting to Woolworths Rewards dollars.
I quote "Other loyalty program members said they specifically chose not to bank their points for Christmas due to hackers preying on these accounts around this time of year."
Newspaper article - https://au.news.yahoo.com/disturbing-warning-for-woolworths-β¦
@mysterytal: That News Ltd piece only discusses use of cloned cards to obtain points. It's easy. Anyone could do that.
Not the first time Woolies system weakness led to loss of customers money!!
Not any proof that Christmas savings have been removed (before being unlocked for Christmas spending)!
Had $30 from points removed from my account.
Woolworths excuse was someone accessed my account. (They didn't. They got lucky with a cloned card number & tried again even though there were no points. If they had access to my account they would know not to try!)
Woolies issued a new EDR card with new number. Reinstated the $30 taken.
But Woolies blamed me for my password - had I shared it? No! It was strong & changed regularly.
Since then, changed my password many times, email address (twice) on that account but received notice my account is (weekly) under attack - just now!! (Password request email).
No access has been successful & no Points lost. Creating another email & will request a new card number - should stop the attacks
The response from Woolworths is that the login ID and passwords of the accounts have been used to access the customers points.
Woolies is just blaming the customer for problems with their systems!
They simply refuse to acknowledge cloning of Rewards cards on apps is the easiest way to steal points.
If people realised that, they would not be pleased with REWARDS!! They might stop shopping at Woolies & use FLYBUYS which requires a PIN to protect the customer's money!
Your quote from News Ltd piece was sourced from that 'totally reliable' - social media!!! (They might quote your comment next, to support their 'News'…)
It just suggests people did not bank their points for Christmas - because they thought their accounts may be compromised. No evidence supporting that actually happens. Woolies denied it. Just some people on the internet have that fear!!
Others fear or believe very strange things… Doesn't make it true! But it's good clickbait for News Ltd!
Gaining access to accounts is very different to cloning a card number in a common app!
That requires either password, access to the owner's mobile to receive SMS, or access to owner's email address to receive code.
Repeated incorrect passwords locks account. Owner of account is notified.
Clicking forgot password sends a reset request to owner of account.
If they gain access….
Then a 2 factor check to gain access to sensitive settings…
Secure verification
We've sent a one-time verification code to ****@****.com. This step is to keep your personal details safe
Accessing the owners email is more difficult. They have 3 guesses of that 6 digit code…
Changing from from one form of redemption to another is easy to set up, but harder to reverse. I only have experience with Qantas. Had to contact Rewards & prove my identity but Points could not be moved back onto EDR card.
Found no info on how to move points back to card. Usually have to Unlock the Christmas savings AFTER 1/12.
So its the season to be cautious with points - after then!
Banking for Christmas seems a lot safer than points in card that is easily cloned!! (Except in December)
Spending any points ASAP is best.
@INFIDEL: Oops, your link was to Yahoo News not the usual suspect News Ltd. Still read the same - just clickbait based on social media chat.
Like News Ltd more recent Woolies customers take to social media to report account hacks etc
Other sites repost OzBargain discussions…

@INFIDEL: Changed my account to a completely different email, & new password.
Unlikely will get more "reset password" emails.
Very unlikely they have the card number - otherwise my REWARDS$ would have disappeared!
Seems a tad bit wasteful
Take an old bag & scan it! No waste!
Or buy 1 bag & rescan it.
Have suggested & done that in BigW topup to 2000pt Deals
Bought small mandarins @25-30c.
A healthier ROIπ
Yikes! I would use them up soon before you get hacked.
Points banked for Christmas are reportedly safe from hacking.
Anyone else still waiting on their bonus points from this one?
It is instant, no waiting.
Oh really? Weird, I boosted mine for 1700 points, bought a piece of fruit but never got the points. Oh well.
If it was purchased within the promo period, you may ask for the bonus pts.
Yes instant.
Cheers, something must have messed up on my end then
Contact Rewards
They applied 4k points when I scanned the wrong card!! That was definitely messed up on my endπ
@INFIDEL: That was very good of them since you are not supposed to have more than one account. What clever tale did you tell them?
@Yola: Am a good storyteller! (Have appeared on Japanese TV - telling stories in traditional Japanese style π)
Explained was shopping for family member as well - scanned their card by mistake.
Told "we'll do it this time - don't do it again". (I haven't)
9200ptsπ
Multiple EDR accounts with few points on each helps! Suggested in previous Deals.
