6111

RTX 3080 10 GB still available for $999, from the last post more than 30 days ago.

Add a low-valued item for free metro shipping (thanks AusNugz).

AND…. leather jacket man announced:

The RTX 4080 will release second in November and will start at the below prices for the Founder’s Edition (which we aren’t sure if Australia is getting this time around).

RTX 4080 (12GB) will start at $1,659 AUD
RTX 4080 (16GB) will start at $2,219 AUD

https://press-start.com.au/news/tech-news/2022/09/21/austral…

With the premium pricing of 4080, the 3080 for $999 is still a steal, grab yours before they all gone….

And stop paying HODL tax. LOL.

  • With an rx580, what would be a good option to upgrade?
Running on the Xiaomi 34 monitor, paired with a 6600k, not in any rush. Would also be open to second hand, probably looking to spend no more than 500
I'm thinking wait at least until after the amd launch and see where everything settles.

This would be a HUGE uplift over an RX580, however, you'd be severely bottlenecked by that 6600K. Really need to feed this GPU with at least a 5600X or 12600 sort of CPU to get the most out of it.

Yeah also this is a bit more than I'd be keen on spending, comments of the 3070 maybe being obtainable around 500 in a few months sound promising.
Even a 3060 looks like it'd be a solid upgrade
I figured CPU upgrade would be coming soon, maybe go the GPU first then once it's bottlenecked it's easier to justify the CPU upgrade

If you're not opposed to 2nd hand that 500 for a 3070 wouldn't be far off at all. I have a 3080 and if I bought a 4080/90 today I'd be asking probably 800 negotiable.

Targeting 3440x1440 is definitely a res where the GPU starts to take a front seat, you'll feel the upgrade for sure, just not to the upper potential of if you had a modern CPU too.

I want my 4080 "TY" with DLSS 3.0….or bust!

  • +7

My theory is they want to make the 30-series appear better value while they are sitting on so much stock, once they sell thru that they will change the MSRP.

But the 12GB 4080 fiasco is fairly rotten, how many general consumers are going to be tricked in to paying $1,600 for a 4070.

    • +5

100% that's what they're doing. They're hoping to get rid of it all before AMD launches - that's when they'll be forced to re-price. I bet there will still be plenty of 3000s because everyone is aware of nvidias dirty money grab so there will be plenty of people holding.

Just for reference, very mixed, many reviews for this website https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/online-computer
Sounds like if things work out, they're fine but if you need any support, they don't care. Some people claiming they aren't authorised sellers and so don't have a proper RA process either.

No experience with them personally, I'd proceed with caution tho

17 review, seven 5-stars and ten 1-star reviews. Not really telling much especially since productreview.com is known to have a negative bias (not by design but people are more likely to leave reviews when dissatisfied)

  • So after the release I am not here to look for a deal; I am looking for HODL clowns

  • it's a hard no.

Did everyone like the Jensuang special? $1600 for a 192 bus card is what happens when you willingly pay nvidia too much the past 3 gens.

Saw the title, clicked. Read the description and thought wow, someone really has an agenda to push. Then I saw the profile and thought, "oh, not this guy again" ;P
