Apple TV 4K 32GB (2021) 18,525 Westpac Altitude Points (Save 60,700 Points) @ Westpac Altitude Rewards (App Required)

1910

Westpac App required to access the deal.

Browsing through the Westpac App rewards section and found the 32gb version of the AppleTV 4K for ~75% off. One per customer it appears but a great deal none the less.

Accessing the link directly doesn't work. Customers must access it through the Westpac banking app - Rewards section. Worked for me and I am not a Westpac employee.

  • Great deal. Thanks OP

  • +5

Amazing.. given a $100 woolies voucher is 24,000 points, this is like $75

  • I dont use apple ecosystem at home.
How is it useful for me? Can it act like Nvidia Shield Pro?
Or can I sell it instead?

    • Depends what your tv correctly does. You might not need it if your TV can run streaming apps.

Nvidia shield users tend to use it more as a media player on their ‘internet acquired’ content. It could run full uncompressed 4K files smooth like butter. This is something Apple TV can’t do.

Apple TV might also benefit in running game apps if that’s your jam. YMMV

      • +1

I have apple 4K TV, running 4K smooth as hot knife thru butter…lol..depends on ur internet connection really, i like apple 4k tv cos its simplicity and excellent remote control

        • Streaming online 4K is a completely different from rendering 4K uncompressed media from your HDD.

          • @xenoic: None of us are talking about low-bitrate 4K online streams. There are still drawbacks to the Apple TV but you have invented a limitation that doesn't exist.
            https://i.imgur.com/RDzWCE8.jpg

My general advice is Shield Pro for those that are solely into content acquisition and Apple for those who augment with streaming or are in the ecosystem.

      • My sony tv runs all the usual apps so what could this apple tv do?

        • +2

Running iOS apps, iOS games, AirPlay, iCloud photo playback etc

        • +3

Run them much better while also giving you all the benefits of iOS ecosystem stuff like home kit, airplay, Apple gaming, etc.

        • One more question

If i connect apple tv with iCloud ID then will any other household could potential access my date like messages etc?

          • +1

@aman00024: The quick answer is No.

To answer your question, it’s a little like asking “If I connect my (device, eg, chromecast, fire tv stick) to my (ID, eg, Google ID, Amazon login)… then will any other household could potential access my date like messages.”

The act of logging in to an Apple device with your Apple ID doesn’t make your Apple data more available to another household.

        • This’ll do everything your Sony TV does but better. Once you get one you’ll never go back

        • Sony TV have integrated Apple TV on top of its Android os.

      • +3

Apple TV has zero problems playing high-bitrate (ie 4K remuxes). Plex, Infuse, and MrMC (Kodi sans dodgy plugins) work very well and the 2021 model is way snappier than the Shield Pro. Biggest drawback is no DV Profile 7 support.

I vastly prefer the Plex experience on the ATV which has come leaps and bounds since using their own playback engine.
Shield Pro has AI upscaling and hi-res audio bitstreaming however; Apple will do DD+/Atmos or convert to LPCM.

        • I've got the latest shield tv pro and the 4K apple tv and the apple tv is much smoother in my experience. I use the shield tv more currently for pc game streaming and the AI up scaling really helps some content when it's low res.

          • +2

@MrFunSocks: I’ve got both as well. Shield is great for playing emulated games and playing DV content and atmos pass through, but ATV is a nicer experience overall

    • Only use in your case sounds like it would be to sell but you get these brand new $200-230 so sell for whatever you get

    • -6

Nothing beats Nvidia Shield Pro apple is just limited crap

      • Have you ever even tried it?

        • +2

          apple TV is better.

      • +1

I actually bought nvidia shield to test it, after all these comments. I would say nvidia shield is still much slower than Apple TV. Also Apple TV does much more things easier than Google account.

  • +1

Great deal! 18k points and the Apple TV is worth $249 on the Apple website.

  • +6

Damn, wish i had some points to use rather than redeeming them all for rebates

    • Minimum 3000 redemption points. But then the price was something around $160. This deal works only if you use points to redeem.

  • Fantastic deal! Thanks @Shaklfjord.

  • -8

All TVs now are smart with solid software. Why would you want this?

    • +4

It would be a stretch to say all TVs had solid software, even amongst current smart ones.

    • only Apple TV has solid chip in it.

  • +1

What a deal! Thank you @Shaklfjord!

  • dispatch 8 weeks after but how can I get this discount?

  • I don't use Westpac so I have question.

It looks like you need to spend $12000 to get 18000 points unless u use airlines.

    Is this actually good deal?

I don't know how much that point usually worth tho.

    • Previous you can get around $100 rebate for 20000 points, so I think if this retails @around $200 it's a great deal

      • sounds right. it's a good deal AppleTV 2021 model will be a latest model for next 1-2 years

  • +2

Also on sale.. Red kitchenAid cordless mixer.
Can’t get the link here. Go to the promotion page and it lives there.

  • +2

Don't need it but ordered. Thanks

    • 👍, didn’t need either, but it’s OzB fever.

  • No sign off this in westpac my offers, shame I could have used a spare

    • +1

Log in to Westpac and go to your points redemption

    • +1

In the app go rewards and offers -> altitude rewards points redeem points -> scroll in the top banner until you get to "flashback sale" and it's in there :)

    • +1

same here. I can see the offer. Also cant see any points redemption as mentioned @Peanut money.

    • +1

In your Westpac app go to Profile > Rewards and Offers > Altitude Reward Points > Continue to web > Merchandise > scroll down

      • Hmm.. when I'm in the app and I go to Profile > Rewards and Offers, I only get loads of Rewards deals on hotels, jeans, JB HiFi etc.. no mention anywhere there of a link to 'Altitude Rewards Points > Continue to web > Merchandise > scroll down'.. am I mentally-challenged like my kids keep telling me I am?

  • +3

Anyway to get this if you don't have altitude points?

    • -1

Buy one from any store for RRP. You need to use altitude points in the altitude points store.

  • Ordered.
    Love westpac

  • I don't need it, but I ordered it as well.
I will sell the older model I have and use the new one…
    Thanks

  • Awesome deal. Thankyou!

  • Thanks OP!

    Didn't need it, but ordered.

    This is the (OzB) way.

    • me too :)

    • Me too…. I am now trying to work out what to do with it

  • Ordered, thanks OP!!

  • +1

    Ordered, thanks OP!
The item has max order quantity limited to only 1.

  • Any way to take advantage of this without being a westpac member?

Someone who is a member and wants to redeem in exchange for cash?

    • +1

You expect someone to sell it to you for $75 or something?

      • Yeah there’s someone in the classified asking to buy for $75

  • Thanks OP, redeemed.

  • Maybe this has already been answered, but my Sony TV has Apple TV as an installed app
    do I need this box?
    Does it add extra benefit?

    Thanks in advance

    • +1

Your apple tv app there is only to watch apple tv shows. Your Sony also has what most likely is an Android OS. This box basically gives you an Apple TV OS, so you can install games and apps. Some games are exclusive to Apple TV OS

  • Is there way to buy points and buy it as a new customer?

  • Grabbed one thanks OP

  • Ordered one. Will think later

  • I always have heaps of sim data left each month on my iphone. Can i use this device to stream off my iphone onto the tv using the phone's sim data ?
I don't to use my NBN modem. Too many devices already using it and it's FTTN

    Thanks

    • +1

Why would you bother doing that?
Such a waste of time and effort.

    • Of course. You’re essentially using ur phone as personal hotspot. Or you can just Airplay from the iPhone

  • FYI for anyone interested Banksa unfortunately doesn’t have the same deal

  • -1

    Excellent

I gifted my friend last week but thank god he hasn’t opened it so I can return and purchase this.

    Hope it comes soon

  • +1

Shame it’s just below 20,000 points, otherwise could have gotten 5000 points back with the current westpac promotion.

    • What promotion are you referring to?

      • +1

5000 points back when redeeming an item of above 20,000 points from the rewards store. It’s on the homepage when logged in.

    • But at least we'll be in the draw for the 2mil points 😉

The cheapest one in flash sale to qualify for the 5k points back is the wine bundle so might be useful for some?

  • Used up all my points for "annual fee rebates" (i.e., cash to pay off my bill). Oh well. This is definitely a GREAT deal. I'm 14K points short.

    • Minimum 3000 points required to redeem. But then you will need to pay about $160.

  • Nice deal….was shopping for the new remote for my existing 4k, now I get an upgrade for about the same price as just the remote.

  • Do you need a Westpac altitude card for this? I only have a Westpac regular account and the app.

    • Need a credit card with reward points.

  • -3

Can someone buy for me for $100

  • Great deal, just bought one. Thanks.

  • If only apple TV could install ipad game apps…

  • I just ordered one, it had been on my wishlist for a long time… much appreciate it!

  • Cries in QFF

  • So many orders, that I’m expecting a cancellation email just like the Dell monitors.

At least I hope you all didn’t order the hand mixer. I can make myself a consolation cake.

    • Ordered both, tricky part is we don't watch TV anymore not play games and can't bake cakes due to strict sugar free, egg free diet. Probably other tricks out there for making reasonably good cakes.

  • What's the difference between this and a HD Chromecast?

  • Ordered. No idea what I will do with it, but seems cheap.

  • Ordered, thanks OP!!

  • Thanks OP! Ordered one :)

  • Thanks OP. Didn't need one, but I love a good bargain, and my old Chromecast Ultra is due for a replacement. Hopefully this will hold up to the Chromecast w Google TV…

  • Thanks OP, just ordered one :)

  • Looks like a good deal, probably gonna gift! Thanks OP :)

    • 😏 hello good freind

      • Hahaha nice try 😜

  • Thanksn.. got 1… but dont really need it… maybe i should replace my shield.

    • -1

I can get it from you if do not need it :).

  • Thanks ordered one.
