Hotspot for Gaming

I previously used an optus physical simcard and usb tethered to my pc for gaming and everything was good, never dced.

Recently I bought an optus esim to see if it would work the same. Disconnects a few times over 15 minutes.

Is this normal? Are physical sims better for usb tethering or it shouldn't make a difference?

Hotspot and Gaming shouldn't be in the same sentence. Just going to give you problems all the time.

And regardless of physical or esim, it should work the same and not disconnect all the time.

    • I never had problems for years which is why its frustrating me right now. I changed phones as well from an iphone se to the iphone 13. Maybe the new phone is the problem.

Agreed if it was wireless hotspotting but usb tethered should be good?

The SIM is essentially a glorified ID number for your service provider - it doesn't make any difference to the quality of service as that depends on your phone, tower signal strength, local congestion and the like.
