Tension Rod for MDF Sliding Robe Doors

Hello ozbargainers

I’m making some DIY sliding robe doors from raw MDF but trying to deal with the doors bowing due to not having anything to hold them straight (e.g. hinges)

Found this link regarding a tension rod: https://cdn.versarobes.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Gui…

Seems like a few large manufacturers fit them onto their own doors, but would anyone know where to buy these from for DIY?

Hope you’re wearing a decent face mask if you’re cutting MDF.
Sorry can’t help with the question

  • Best to buy melamine mdf sheets for wardrobe doors, they bow less.
make sure you don’t just paint one side or leave the panels in direct sunlight. Or stack them against the wall as these all will cause them to bow.

  • You could also try U shaped aluminium channel. You'd fit this over the long sides and use screws to hold them on. Bunnings have the stuff but is extremely expensive and only in 1m lengths. F shaped would also work and you'd have the extra bit sticking out as a handle. There is some on ebay for a bargain price in several colours https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/363942117331
