the joy of having one cable is, literally, unparalleled. it's also a great screen.
also personally i think 27" is the sweet spot for a lot of workflows. i have 2x24" at work and much prefer 1x27" and virtual desktops. i always end up working off one monitor for hours anyway until something opens on the other monitor and i switch over. but i'm the kinda guy that has 750 tabs and 100 windows and 15 programs open at once, maybe if you have a more straightforward workflow it's different for you.
I connect my laptop with a HDMI - it's also one cable.
last time i checked HDMI doesn't also provide power to the laptop?

Got 2 at 119ea. However when I click the view order details link in the email, it shows my customer number as -1 and only one monitor in the order. The email and pdf I got have qty as 2. No idea what will happen.

Received an email from dell that they have received the order but no confirmation. I logged into the order tracker and it ha yet to move onto the confirmation stage. Anyone have any luck with getting the order confirmed?

I remember having an argument with someone here about how much retailers mark up their prices. This guy thought they double their prices lol. This is an example which shows Dell are marking up these monitors by 800-1000%. If RRP is $650 and they sell for $120, they are still making a good profit. Probably costs them $40-50 to manufacture once the production line is set up

@CletusDB: Doesn't sound that silly to me, when HDMI first came out I got a cable from my neighbour who worked at crest for $5 with friends and family pricing, it came with a $100 myer label on it…

I bought two of these at 8am this morning thinking this was standard price. I just went to show my mate and now its $400+ and found this post. Hope they honour.

With some many orders, Dell won't be able to ship them right away, and most likely don't have enough in stock. Dell will need to order them. I bought mine last year (at a much higher price than this). Took about a month to get delivered.
Could take months even. However, at this price, even wait for a month or two is still a bargain. I missed out… but congrats to those who managed to buy some.

You'd never know. Hope you get one and the other OZBers get theirs. If Dell's system already ordered them, it might be better for Dell to deliver them to you, rather than having them in their warehouse collecting dust.

there will be no progress until Dell decides if they want to cancel these orders or not, they won't be doing this on the weekend. Decision will be made next week when they are back in the office. Look at the Alienware thread for info, lots of ppl have called or used online chat and they said that management is going to make this decision and until that nothing will progress.
Some ppl were able to use online chat to get their order to confirmed, but that doesn't mean it can't be cancelled.

The chances of this deal getting honoured is much higher than thee alienware one considering this model has sold before for about 300. So fingers crossed.
