      Thats why it's so cheap

      • Thanks. I thought so.

genuine question; but how are these better then any kmart cheapies? considering a child may only use them for short time anyway

    • Honestly I don't think they are "better".

My niece had one of these, my daughter had the kmart one, so I have first hand experience with both.

The difference is in the weight, the Kmart one is a fair bit heavier, but probably only matters if your kiddo is under 1 and a half or on the smaller side of the bell curve.

Or you "ride to the park"… Ie have to carry it most of the way ;)

I pretty much never let that happen haha, but my kiddo was like a duck to water on 2 wheels.
          Fortunate I guess!

        • My youngest is using the kmart one and it doesn't weigh very much at all.

For me it was the weight, my daughter is almost 2, and quite small so it suited her the best.

I've have a few balance bikes hand me downs and recently got the cruzee as a gift.

Quality is so much better, easier to adjust handle and seat heights. It stays after you adjust em. Very light when you end up carrying. Also when it falls on the kids wont hurt em as much.

Usage is only a few months so up to you if you wanna spend that much. Can always resell on for a decent price

Can attest to the resale value. Missed out on another second hand example which sold for $75. Messaged the seller 2 hrs after he posted it and he'd sold it already. Figured for 45 bucks more I'd buy new and save myself the drive and headache of chasing a second hand bargain

      • That's why I went with the kmart one. They only use it for a few months so why spend a lot? Kmart has them on clearance right now for $25 so resale value isn't important. Quality seems fine with the kmart one as well. They are sturdy and I haven't had to readjust anything.

  • Just for anyone considering, I just bought 2 balance bikes for my little ones from Little Nation. Online only mob - very similar looking construction, same weight as the cruzee bikes. $69 each.

    • I bought a little nation scooter for my first daughter, and now have a micro scooter which I picked up second hand in FB. Micro scooter is way better quality. I upgraded after the front wheels on the One Nation fell off twice.

Some would argue One Nation's wheels were never on!

      • Maybe their scooters are rubbish, but their balance bikes are great - I've compared to a friends cruzee they got for their kid - very similar.

I believe the balance bikes are what they started their company with, but YMMV on some of their other offerings I suppose.

  • jump on facebook and you'll find (barely used) cruzee bikes for sub $100 then you can sell them off after for nearly the same price (or maybe higher).

Both my daughters learnt to ride on the Cruzee we bought years ago. Has also been shared around multiple of our friends over the years for their kids. Is left out in the weather almost every day. It still going strong really. Bit or surface rust here and there and we lost a rear axle bolt in grass somewhere once which was replaced with a spare bolt I had in the shed that the thread was the same. Youngest daughter has just started riding the pedal bike so about the offload the cruzee to another mate for his son. Has been a great purchase.

Light balance bikes are the way to go. Both daughters we left on the balance bike until they were super confident. Then about 2 weeks on a pedal with training wheels to just get the practice of the brakes and the pedalling motion then training wheels off and a bit of a push and off they went. Easy as. Both riding no training wheels at about 3.5yo.
