If it's the same as last year they don't have much stock due to pandemic manufacturing and it will sell out very quickly.
Someone I know wanted the 13 on release. They were recommended to preorder online as soon as the Apple store App went live and Apple were getting hammered. It took them 4-5 tries to successfully checkout and stock was all gone within minutes except for some of the most expensive models. They got one though and everyone else who wanted one after that was shown a delivery estimate of 1.5-2 months until restock.
Anyway in store stock is even more limited than online so if you are not at the front of the line you have no chance.You should have preordered on the 9th.
Yeah the website was very slow when I was pre-ordering, it looked like it didn’t work but then an order confirmation came through.

Yeah you are right that is what they experienced. I just had a chat with them and they said the "confirmation page" never showed after clicking pay, but the email did come through.
They discovered online though that many people thought this meant "the order didn't go through" so they did it again multiple times until it did show confirmation. Then the next day these people discovered every order went through and they were being invoiced for multiple purchases and had to cancel the extra ones lol.Sorry I must have misremembered what I was told last year.

Pretty sure you can't pay with Apple account balance in store; only on the online store. You can pay with up to eight Apple gift cards in store though I think (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Not impossible. Apple lets you preorder and cancel easily, I’d expect some mind changes on release day on deep purple (both ways)
Unlikely. If you try to pre-order from Chadstone, for eg, the only Pro phone available is the iPhone 14 Pro Gold 1TB. I am not sure if they have stock set apart for walk ins though.
Try JB, TGG, HN etc they have stock and accept pre-orders. Unless you want to use your Apple credits.
Stock usually arrives the day before, so it's possible the staff member may know, if it has arrived or is in transit (That's if Apple allows them to)

You might get lucky with people who cancel their orders.
I had some issues at 10pm (or 10:10pm I should say) when the iPhone app kept saying unsuccessful/pick up time no longer available/payment not processed/order not went through and even said to keep trying until I get the email confirmation. I did a couple more times and gave up and did it on my Windows PC where it worked seamlessly (funny isn't it) because it showed locations/timeslots and let me pick it and order… and then I got an email confirmation from my original iPhone order. So I cancelled it. Hopefully someone got the Sydney City launch day 9am iPhone 14 Pro Max 512gb SB!

FWIW, they won't add more stock until the morning of the launch when stores receive their stock.
If someone returns or cancels order you might get it, they came in shipments so it's either wait for the next lot or other stores have release day stock allocated you can try going in. Personally I'm on the fence still, I'll return it if the reviews show the phone still can't sustain Genshin performance for long cause the Zenfone 9 does that quite well.
