nbn 95mbps, $75/Month for The First 6 Months ($90/Month Thereafter) + Bonus $80 Mobile SIM @ Belong

151
GOFAST

As much as I dont like NBN, i do understand many people will choose NBN over 5G home internet, so anyway First thing first,

downsides
Belong Customer service is very hard to reach, Can only reach them via ticket/emails etc, or Facebook.
Other NBN providers may have NBN 100 ish plan for cheaper, and that may well be worth it (exetel/superloop $68.9)

But these downsides aside, belong is good when

$80 sim credit, which again as mentioned numerous times, people can use it to score double data on $40 first activation, and then continue on the cheapest plan for the rest of the time.

they allow BYOD modem - so $0 cost that way

and no contract or any bonds etc. its all month to month, no locking in, no credit checks.

Then do require you to prepay though from my experience.

You don't like NBN because it's a watered down waste of money? Too late for that. I'm stuck with HFC that won't get updated to fibre for decades to come.

Is your HFC that bad? My 100/40 has mostly been close to that in 2 states, 4 addresses over the past 5yrs. I even played with Launtel's 400/50 a few months ago and it was pretty close to that.

What's the difference between HFC and fiber? Speeds pretty much seems to be same and I'm on HFC.

      • HFC drops out all the time although it didn't before NBN took over.

But these downsides aside, belong is good when
you activate the nbn like on 2nd on month, and then, all the time from 2 to end on that month internet is free

I'm pretty sure the fixed this loophole up last year for both mobile and NBN services as they changed their payment model.

I just signed up to my republic: 100/20
    $69/mth (first 6 mths)
    then $79 ongoing. (No contract)

Used code "welcome30" for an extra $30 off first bill.

    • I was with Belong and moved to MyRepublic when I moved house. For less money, MyRepublic is a no brainer. Note that both use CG-NAT.

      • I just finished up my 6 month cheaper price with superloop lol

Just go with Aussie Broadband it’s the best of the lot.

I would stay away from this turd of a RSP.

Their customer support system is absolutely horrendous, and the support team members are located overseas who are complete script reading muppets.

you activate the nbn like on 2nd on month, and then, all the time from 2 to end on that month internet is free

This perk has been removed a while ago.

  • Just pointing out that Belong is owned by Telstra.

    • Even more reason to avoid.

      • Totally agreed. Telstra are the worst company ever, you would think Hunter Biden is at the helm.

Still on the cheapest $55/month plan. Its ok. Customer service is terrible, there used to be phone customer service based in the Philippines and it was really hard to understand what they were saying. During covid they removed that and they only had email contact for customer service (good luck if you had technical issues!) Luckily havent had any issues as of late. Signed up when modem was free with a contract, not sure if the modem can be used for another service if they go to shit one day?

  • Belong is just the budget version of crapstra in terms of service and quality.

The only thing that is the same is the glorified name for a prepaid service by calling it upfront.

    The worst ISP ever

  • The double data offer is not eligible on the $80 SIMs.

"This offer can’t be used alongside other Belong offers, such as the $80 credit SIMs given to new Belong nbn customers, included with Second Life phone purchases or bought with Telstra reward points."

Belong have also re-opened their call centre (scroll all the way to the bottom of this page for the number)

As much as I dont like NBN…

I've got the OG Labor fibre-to-the-premises NBN, and let me tell you it goes like poop off a shingle. ABB are able to allocate enough bandwidth to each user that we get our rated speed of an evening; and being fibre optic it'll last for decades without corroding the way copper does.

5G's a shared medium - everybody uses the same radio channels, and only one device can transmit on each channel at a time, so every user eats into your shared bandwidth. If it's fast now, that's great; wait until a couple of thousand new 5g devices start sharing your cell's radio spectrum and then see how you feel.

    • the main point is how much and value getting when are you paying NBN compared to 5G payment and value.

Belong has horrible packet loss issues

I did not mean to remove my comment my mistake.

I'm a Belong Customer and this internet is terrible. Their support is garbage when it comes to issues so I could not recommend them.

After Midnight my internet becomes painfully slow to the point I'm constantly restarting my modem so many times per month. I've gone to Belong on Facebook since they do support on there too and their responses to my issues is "There is nothing wrong appearing on our end" and they say this message over and over and over again every time I go to them for help. It's a nightmare.

The only reason I'm with them is because I can't find another ISP that's offering the same speed (or more) for $90 per month. I wanted to join Optus cause their support is awesome compared to Belong but they require some stupid ID to join them and because I'm lacking any of that I can't join them.

Please do not join Belong as if you have issues good luck getting help…

  • So much hate for Belong.

I've currently been with them for a while, I was originally on a 100/40 plan, then they dropped us to 100/20 without notice.

I get max speeds pretty steadily as a FTTP user.

Problems don't occur often and I haven't needed to use their support for a long time, so I can't comment on that.
