Steve and Alex Amibos Nintendo Switch (Trouble)

Hi folks just received the Alex and Steve amibo's, tried everything can link to both pro controller and joy cons however I can't fight as them, they just do there own thing and fight as the CPU. Any advice on how to use/control them would be great, many thanks as I am not technically inclined and can't find anything on YouTube to clarify this.

    I've assuming this is for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

    Have you purchase the one of the following DLC (Downloadable Content) to unlock the character?

    I purchased the physical Amibo's from jbfi for $44

      Purchasing the Amiibo, doesn't give you access to the playable characters (you still have to purchase the DLC/Fighter Pass).

      Amiibo just lets you save your character stat to them (and train them up, bring them over to other console, etc).
