White Flecks in The Rear Windscreeen

My car has what is called privacy glass - factory "tinted" I would say.

White flecks have started appearing in the glass so I complained to Audi.

They asked me to take to the nearest dealer for a diagnosis.

Dealer is telling me that the white flecks are cause by external scratches - not seeing any scratches, under a ultra bright light.

I believe dealer/company are fobbing me off as I am in into the 4th year of ownership.

Not quite sure how to approach redress as the car company sent me an email in April asking that I get it checked out and I only manged to get to dealer yesterday.

Anyone has any similar experiences that they could share/help with please?

Doesn't seem to be a big problem if it took you five months to bother taking it in for a check?

    • I would have gone earlier if I was in the country

How noticeable are these "flecks"? Can you only see it at certain angles?

white flecks are cause by external scratches

If you run your finger nail over it (outside or inside), can you feel it?

Picture(s) in your post would be helpful…..

    • you can't feel the flecks.

The flecks are there when you looking at it straight on. Understand they are cosmetic but it will affect the values of the car when I am selling it 4 months times.

but it will affect the values of the car when I am selling it 4 months times.

        Doubt it.

        • Yep, likely to increase its value.. limited edition white specked privacy glass..

Audi being outside warranty will affect the value more when you go to sell it, especially in January when it just became a year older

I was gonna say, the 4 circles on the boot do more to damage resale value than flecks in the rear window.

        • In the 4th year of a five year factory warranty.

  • How so you clean your car? Through a car wash or hand done?

    • Hand wash only. no swirls there.

    Pics or M$ paint drawing?

Does the problem go away when the snowflakes melt?

    • Are you talking about the owner?

  • Take it to an expert windscreen place like Windscreen O'Brien and ask for their opinion, it should cost nothing
Then go back to the Audi dealership and ask to see the service manager
If that was no joy, write to Audi in Oz. Then Audi head office wherever that is in the world
