Get $5 Paid off Your Utility, Internet or Phone Bill @ HelpPay (Facebook Commenting Required, First 25 Claimants Only)

05

HelpPay is a website and app that enables bill sharing and payment (helppay.com.au) - to get new users to try the app they are offering to pay $5 off your utility, internet or phone bill.

You need to either download the app or register on the website, then add a bill and post a link to the bill payment page in the comments of the post on FB - should take a couple of minutes tops.

It is only for the first 25 people and only allows for one bill payment per person. No other strings attached.

If anyone else pays anything off your bill using the app then they will receive full credit card points (QFF, etc).

Full Disclosure: I work for the company that helped develop the app

Last time it was for the first 100 people & $10 off & received lots of negs.

This post is only for the first 25 people & $5. I guess $125 is a cheap price to pay for basically using Ozbargain like an advertising platform.

  • Love a good startup but what's the difference between this and just sending a paypal request for the same amount??

Extra fees payable by going through this one

As per the last post, there's hidden fees which aren't mentioned anywhere on the website from what I can see (they're alluded to in the Help section, but actual amounts aren't shown

Un-hide the fees and I'll undo my neg

Let's create a problem nobody has and then give them the solution to it (for a price).

Awww, come on, fair go! it solves lots of problems!

It solves the problem of not having an anonymous intermediate to legitimise the stealing people's credit card details.

I can now have all my bills paid by posting links on my facebook and getting my sketchy friends who steal credit card numbers use this app as the middle man for the payment processing. I can claim innocence, I just posted the details on my facebook and someone else generously used a stolen credit card to pay my phone/internet/electricity bill.

It also solves the problem of having to social engineer people to get details about them as well! Looking at the first person to post their bill on facebook I can see who their energy provider is, already know their name, the amount they owe etc. It's a great data harvester which we all need in our lives!

Damnnnn, how easy would it be to go phishing on that one

Too much like shooting fish in a barrel - takes all the sport out of phishing if you ask me.

Ozbargain is for bargains in case there was any confusion

    negging for hidden fees

  • I rather use Bpay to settle the bill without paying any additional transaction fee.

  • Some ideas for your start-up to make it more attractive:
    - utility bill smoothing across time.
    - group buying power for lower rates.

    • Smoothing bills would be offering credit, similar to bnpl products which have recently been massacred.

Group buying for bills would be…interesting.

      • Nothing wrong with applying for a license to offer credit.

So you're helping people struggling with bills, by charging extra fees. You're reinforcing irresponsible money practices (paying unnecessary fees). You're kidding, right?

  • You need to be more transparent on actual fees and use less fluff words to skirt around how much the fees are. I won’t be signing up until I know what the fees are in advance.

  • "Facebook commenting required", so paid "work"? Far from a bargain.
