When its comes to mattress, good and $500 doesn't goes together, specially with Pocket Spring.
Did you found anything around that price yet?

    • Ikea offers a few options

I have this one. It's good for the money. Probably won't last long term but I only need it short term.

      • Hi what do you mean won't last long?the top or the spring. thanks

    • how long you've been using it? happy?

      • I think 3 years now, definitely happy enough!

        • thanks for your recomandation. seems like a good deal

FWIW i'd stay away from the mattress in a box idea, the side support is very average at best.

Go to a bricks and mortar store, even Ikea has decent ones towards the top end of their range.

My advice is as you'll spend 1/3 of your life on it spend at least $1000, your back will thank you later.

    • side support

I rate sleep republic pretty high. As far as side support for a bed in box solution but yeah they are on the higher end of the price scale

They look like the exception to the rule.

        Pretty good quality bed that.

    • Strange… a friend of mine who's actually a physical therapist swears by Sleeping Ducks.

I also like that (in their ads) they have an "extra firm" option as I have a finicky back. And they were my first option when I finally go mattress shopping later this year.

Which brands/models from the brick and mortars would you suggest that's comparable?

  • This is slightly above your budget

We have the queen and it’s been a blessing after horrible boxed zzz atelier

    • quite good and on sale too. but delivery cost $129, mattress in a box may be a better idea

      • Don’t go for a mattress in a box! You’ll spend way more at the physio to fix your back

I use an Ikea pocket spring mattress and it's really old, sometimes a spring gets caught down and later suddenly pops up, scaring the cat.
