Yeah, I use this length cable at college, work and in the car where anything longer is annoying. But at the computer desk at home I use a longer one. I already have 1 but 2 more is handy as I tend to lose things a lot :)

Yes, arguably brighter however that DX one uses a 18650 lithium. The one I linked to uses a single standard AA cell, so it's much easier for most people to "use"
Honestly, if you're going to buy one of these torches, you might as well fork out the extra cash for a Li battery and a charger. It costs like $10 in total but it's like buying a sports car and refusing to go any higher than 3rd gear.
