Issues Installing HTC Vive Headset

Hi guys,

Hoping someone can help me.

I have the HTC Vive VR headset (from 2016?), I'm trying to download the VR Setup for it from Vive but am getting an error,

"Download Failed. Please check the network connection and try again".

My internet seems to be working fine, is this likely a server issue on Vives end ? Is there a copy of the installation I can download that doesn't need internet connection to install ?

Another thing. I connected the Vive to my PC via USB and the HDMI to the back of my monitor (I'm currently using DP for my primary display). When Windows (7 64bit) detected the device, it did its usual device install procedure etc.. but two didn't install,

  1. BCM2045A0
  2. Unknown Device

I'm assuming the drivers for these would be included in the Vive installation? If not, anyone run into these ? Apparently a quick Google tells me the BCM2045A0 is a Bluetooth thing ?

Looking forward to feedback and suggestions,

Regards,

  • Broadcom BCM2045 relates to a bluetooth chipset that your Vive hardware uses. This driver should be installed as part of your HTC Vive driver package.

Have you tried a different cable or port? (i.e, Displayport as opposed to HDMI?) You might have a bad cable causing connectivity issues.

    • Thanks scrim,

I might have a spare HDMI and mini-DP > DP cable, will have a look for them and give your suggestion a try. With the HTC Vive driver package, is that just the drivers that come with Windows 7 (64) or is there a separate driver package to install? I tried installing the Vive software from the website thinking that would have the drivers, but am getting the network error, so can't install :/.

I did a brief websearch for the 'Broadcom BCM2045', got a couple hits, one being from https://oemdrivers.com/bluetooth-broadcom-bcm2045 (not sure if legit, though it looks legit).

The other hits are from DELL (DELL S2721DGF) https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/drivers/driversdetaiā€¦. but on the DELL website, it doesn't have a listing for Windows 7 (64) just Windows 8 and above.

I'll try your suggestion and see how that goes.

  • Just use Steam VR. You shouldn't need any Vive software.

I've had a vive and a vive pro.

    • Thanks MilkDX. I'm currently in the process of fixing Steam as I tried installing SteamVR earlier but it was installing on C: instead of my games drive.

Does the Vive software not include the required drivers/software to work correctly though?

  • So I managed to install SteamVR and a couple of Free vr games (nvidia funhouse, google earth, cosmic flow). All looks to be working, so I'm not sure what the missing drivers are for, or how to fix. I figured the Vive software would have the drivers, but haven't been able to install it. shrug.
