We are looking to refinance our home loan in Qld.
Can anyone recommend an honest, reliable broker that we can use to help us refinance?
We are happy to pay for the service of an independent broker if there is such a thing (so that they are not reliant on commissions and can give us honest advice and find the right loan for us).

Have you got a specific need for a broker or are you just after a cheap refinance?
my experience has been all brokers get comissions, lots are owned through one of the big banks also. eg Aussie CBA, but even a local broker was indirectly owned by NAB. I went with them as they were free,. which suited my needs. However I was going to be skeptical if they chose a NAB product, they recommended Westpac.
Have enquired about other brokers who are more fee for service. I get why they charge as you can get the run around from clients shopping around and lose money and time on this, but whilst some don't charge I dont see much benefit. FEE PAYING BROKERS STILL GET COMMISSION (though I'm sure some don't or deny it)

In summary I guess, have a chat to one and make sure they suit your need/budget. But I wouldn't focus too much on the independance
