Adesso Stainless Steel Kettle 1.7L $20 (RRP $27) @ Woolworths

520

A value-for-money, fully stainless steel (except the lid) electric kettle which nicely does its job. Have one for more than two years and going strong. I have seen some expensive and fancier versions in the market with no visible difference in performance or (possibly) longevity.

Some features (as listed on the product page):

  • 1850-2200W
  • Automatic switch off
  • Boil dry and overheating protection
  • 360 degree cordless power base with cord storage
  • Indicator light switch
  • Lid open button on handle

PS: If the link doesn't show the right price, you can manually search for the item on Woolworths website and you should be able to find it listed for $20 (I also verified it in a store in Sydney). Ridiculous question.

You can't hide in a kettle.

Picked up maybe the last one at 2302 this morning. Seems to work well, quiet, generous cord length:)

I have this, it became corroded and rusty around the lid, and when pouring quickly the water goes everywhere, not sure why, just a bad design I think.
Side note, the first 3 had a fault where on cold mornings kettle would keep turning off soon after turning on, requiring multiple on/off's to get it to finally boil. That was probably a bad batch but this is cheap crap. Just know that when buying. My $23 variable temperature Kmart kettle is much better in quality, and boils faster even though both supposedly have the same wattage 1700w-2200w. I would guess this is more towards 1700w, while kmart 2200w

  • I didn't see any fill level indicator window - if it doesn't have one, filling this kind of narrow top jug to a desired level can be a major PITA

    • It has a water window it is where the handle is, which is a bit hard to see, partially obscured by handle. I wouldn't buy this kettle though

    • It's not a narrow top kettle at all. The top is quite wide/ big.

      • The top is quite generous when you pop the lid open. Something I thought was odd, the min is 750ml, which I'm used to only 500ml. And yes, the water level indicator is hard to see, gonna need to use a sharpie!
