Hi all, understand this isn't a great saving considering it is $60 rrp but all second hand listings on ebay for the physical version of this game are above $100 and comparatively this price isn't too criminal imo. This is a post more for fans of franchise who might like the game to grow their collection. I wish Nintendo wouldn't wouldn't fix prices by ending game production but oh well. US version, so will the download code will only work on US eshop accounts? Does anyone know?

    • I believe switch is region free + The q&a section of Amazon seem to confirm it works on AU switches

      • +1

Another bloke from AU also answered that couldn't get it to work.

      • +2

Switch is region free but the games generally aren't and require DLC of the same region as the game cart/download and the current setting on the account (that aspect is easily changed though)

          Where. Is. The. Proof.

Everyone says this all the time in these comments, but for 90% of cases, DLC is region free as well

          • +2

            @Faro:

Can DLC for one region be used with the same software title from another region?

No, DLC will only work with games that are released for the same region as the DLC.

            Straight from Nintendo themselves

I myself have run into DLC region lock issues with a UK import of Splatoon 2

@ShadowStealer7: That's a blanket term and not the rule. It's to protect them against complaints.

I have mismatched physical game and DLC for:
              Smash Bros
              Dead Cells
              Mutant Football League
              Guacamelee

And more that I can't remember currently.

This is coming from a collection of over 200 physical games and hundreds more which are digital

In fact, the only game I know for certain that has regional DLC compatibility issues is Splatoon 2

@Faro: The UK expansion pass for Torna won't redeem on an Australian account. This person had to make a UK account to redeem it: https://whrl.pl/RgnvOW. I'm not sure if the US version is different.

                • -1

@wishcresp: That's not he question. Redeem it on a UK account and it will still work on an Australian or American cartridge.

                    @Faro: For this particular game:
You need the correct region account (easily created) to redeem the DLC.
The DLC works perfectly fine with Xenoblade 2 base game of a different region.

Source: I own US Xeno 2 and UK Torna physical. Halfway through the game with DLC options enabled.

                    • -2

@zonra: Yes, I understand. The code needs to be redeemed via the UK eShop.

I may have partially misread the initial comment.

    • It is UK version actually, despite sold by Amazon US.

    • Are there any download codes? That's just a cartridge, not a code.

      • The standalone expansion comes on the cartridge, but it comes with a DLC code for Xenoblade 2

        • Ah, like additional swords and stuff?

    • +2

I have the UK physical version of both Torna and XB2 and the download code needed a UK Eshop account to work. Once redeemed I could play Xenoblade 2 with the DLC items on my AU account.

This is the general rule for these things.

  • Yup it's a great deal since second hand copies are $100++ and there aren't many places that sell them brand new anymore.
I've been tempted to grab one as I love Xenoblade 1, however based on reviews it seems to be hit or miss - either u love it coz it has one of the best combat systems, or u absolutely hate it.

I believe this is just the prequel to Xenoblade chronicles 2? Not the same as Xenoblade chronicles 2 base game edition

    • Correct, it's a prequel, a separate game.

Tempted to buy cos the game sells for over $100, but damn its expensive for 20 hours of gameplay. Also haven't even finished #1 yet.

      • haha i have exactly the same dilemma, im here buying xb3 and trying to buy the 2 xb 2s……but havent even been 1hr in XB

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Nintendo Switch) https://amzn.asia/d/8TZOIFN
This one is the full game, not the expansion

  • +6

Keep in mind that Torna is included in the season pass for Xenoblade 2, which is $45 on the eShop and goes on sale for $30 every now and again. Unless you really want it physical or standalone from the base game, I'm not sure whether this price would be worth it despite how much I loved my time with it

  • +1

It’s been as low as $50ish on Amazon

I’d personally wait unless you really want a physical asap

    • But where is stock? As it stands this is higher than retail ever was. How likely is it to ever go to ~$50 again?
