My Samsung 34" is feeling a little dated now - bought it around 3 years back and want to upgrade. A decent 38-40" looks to be minimal around $1600 (38" LG Ultra-Wide 38WN95C-W). Do you think the price of these are going to come down any time soon (or a decent sale will happen) or are they still too new?

I've decided.
My bday is end of next month so I'm gonna give my current 32 inch ultrawide to the wife and get one of those 48 inch AORUS monitors.
Before you do, hol up. I haven't used much but there's some things you need to be aware of.
There's an auto turn off after 4 hrs. I think you can switch it back on.
It's recommended not to have full brightness to reduce burn in
You need to make to have enough room. I've got a 900mm deep desk and ergotron HXIt might be better to wait for 42 inch display from one of the gaming companies.

3yrs old is dated ? WTF… did I miss the memo?
if your throwing out that POS old outdated screen, throw it to me free I'll take it
38" is pretty niche so prices won't drop too much imo. Seems like the industry trend is going towards bigger screens, 4K and OLED.
I bought the 48" gigabyte cos ozbargain but the 34" Alienware QD-OLED is meant to be amazing and worth considering. LG has a 42 inch OLED so there'll be monitors with these but burn in is a concern.
