Avoid MyRepublic Gaming Route, They Don't Optimize Anything

Recently signed up with MyRepublic with their gaming route for $10 extra per month, and am getting consistently higher ping than my previous provider TPG/Superloop.

since they promised "gaming route" with lower ping, I have contacted them in live chat:

Customer Support
Hi (My Name), thank you for confirming your details, I'm ____, your Live Chat expert. I'm going to read over your chat to get up to speed if that's ok?

Me:
Higher ping (PUBG) at the same premise, compare to Superloop/TPG, in both AU/Sydney server, as well as SEA/Singapore server
that's all it was

Customer Support
Are you having the same issue with other games of just PUBG?

Me
have not tested other game, and I don't have a issue, it's just higher ping than other provider
not jittering/lagging, but consistent higher ping

Customer Support
To perform a ping test:

In the command prompt application, type 'Ping -n 100 www.google.com', and press enter
Once the test has finished, take a screenshot and attach it here

Me: (attached screenshot)

Customer Support
are you experiencing constant high ping or erratic?
because based on the result, the ping is within the acceptable range.

Me:
put it this way, all other provider I've used give about less or around 30ms ping with PUBG AU server, yours is 40ms+ range
and as I said, it's not a issue, but rather since I paid for the gaming route, I expect a better traceroute than this.

Customer Support
I understand, I am just asking if this is constant or erratic.

Me:
constant

Customer Support
how are you connected? hardwired or wifi?

Me:
hardwired
I have wifi6 ax3000 router, wired or wireless make no difference, ping 192.168.1.1 gives 1ms/2ms at all time

Customer Support
I can see that you are located in SA. Currently, MyRepublic only has one PoP which is located in Sydney. This basically means that all your traffic takes an extra trip through Sydney no matter what you are connecting to. And due to this, we may be unable to optimise the ping.

    so the TL;DR is:

Don't sign up with MyRepublic in SA, especially don't pay the $10 extra for gaming route.

Sydney? Maybe, but given their level of support in the online chat, don't bother sign up in general.

  • Customer Support:
we apologise for the inconvenience but since we only have one PoP at the moment, it will be the best ping we can provide since you are in SA.
In the meantime, is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Me:
    yes, one more question
You only have PoP in Sydney, not Melbourne either right?

    Customer Support:
We only have a PoP in Sydney.
    None in Melbourne.

    Me:
    thanks.
u have a nice day, that's all my question.

It's almost like the general consensus was to always stay away from them…

    • lesson learnt, and also I am leaving this post more for others (who's like me) to reference later.

    • Jokes on me :(

At least they have a 30 day happiness guarantee, so I'll get my money back.

Have a read of the following info so you know allot more about choosing the right RSP (or not choosing a dud):
    https://www.nbnco.com.au/blog/the-nbn-project/what-is-a-poi-…

"There are 41 POIs in New South Wales, 30 in Victoria, 22 in Queensland, 14 in Western Australia, nine in South Australia, two in Tasmania, two in the ACT, and one in the Northern Territory."

    • it doesn't tell you which ISP have paid for which POIs though right?
