On sale is this Universal IR Blaster hub that allows you to control IR appliances such as your TV or aircon with an app. It has a cloud IR code database with over 50,000 devices added and it's constantly being updated with new devices. Alternatively you can manually learn IR codes for anything not found in the database.

It has a range of 8-15 metres, devices can be controlled from anywhere through the app, timers/triggers can be set, compatible with Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant for voice control, as well as Broadlink FastCon and IFTTT. Remotes you've setup in the app can be shared with other people in your household.

For me I have it setup so that I can control my aircon, change the flow/temperature etc, as well as being able to control my TV and TV Box all from the one app. Instead of having to worry about using 3 different remotes.

  • Is there any difference between RM4C and RM4?

    • The only difference is that it doesn't support the Remote Sensor Cable that'll make the RM4 record the current temp/humidity in the app.

  • so handy, I use mine to control my electric fireplace and have set it up turn on at a certain time and turn off at a certain time, can also control the colour and everything through the Google assistant

  • I can't get this to play nice with my Google Wifi, probably because 2.4GHz and 5GHz are on the same network

  • These are not broadlink be careful they are bestcon they are using broad link name but look the box on the website.

    • Broadlink and Bestcon are the same company. Rather Bestcon is just a sub-brand and it uses the same app. As described here

I'm sad that this would make my life easier. Here in the future, depending on automating flashing IR lights.

Nice one. The discount wasn't there when I checked yesterday. I won't be able to match it sadly.

Word of warning to anyone wanting to use Broadlink or IHC with their Google assistance smart devices for voice commands!

Once you have assigned certain names or devices with their software which integrates with Google you will never be able to delete them even if you unlink the app.
There are no customer service options and you'll be stuck emailing Google customer service for assistance who probably wont have a clue on how to assist you.

    • Yup, I have phantom devices which I cannot remove. It messed up my wife's google account so only I can turn the heater on by voice now. I am now her proxy google assistant

      • What's with that? The only issues I have is with the old broadlink app (IHC) but it's been doing my head in to try find a solution..

        • Yeah, I think mine also got corrupted during the transition from IHC to the Broadlink app.

  • If you have Amazon Prime it's $17.20 shipped.
