PayPal Rewards Card Changing to Citi Classic Plus Card

Have a PayPal Rewards card from prior bonus points promo and kept it as a backup CC as it had no annual fee. Just got the following email:

From 16 October 2022, the PayPal Rewards Card will no longer be available and you'll be switched to a Citi-branded Classic Plus Card. The majority of your card features and benefits will remain the same. You will be able to use your Classic Plus Card to spend, and can earn 1 Citi reward Point per $1 spent on eligible transactions. Your fees and charges, including $0 annual fee, won't change as a result of the switch.

Does anyone have a Citi rewards points earning credit card (probably just the regular Citi Rewards card is comparable) and would be kind enough to reveal what the redemption options and rates are for these points?

I've not had a Citi rewards points earning card for a long time and am trying to determine if it's best to redeem the PayPal rewards points before the change over occurs.

It's 2.5 Citi Rewards point for 1 Velocity Frequent Flyer point when I had the card

Yep, that’s still the cost. 1.3 to 1 Flybuys points. 20900 points for an $100 gift card for Amazon.

@AussieDeals you should be able to browse the rewards store without logging in.

  • That died quick. Surprising that Citi bought it considering they were just bought over by NAB.

  • The site suggest that you can use the point to shop at kogan. The question is if the conversion rate is the same as Kogan Money.

If it is, I heard they convert to about $0.01 per point. I guess the only down side is you don't get the Kogan First compared with Kogan Money CC.

  • I think you'd be better of opting out and signing up from scratch with Citi (or elsewhere) to get the signup bonus. The only problem is I can't see anyway to opt out, but I guess I can just cancel.

This is a bit annoying. I liked managing the card out of the Paypal app. It sounds like its better to spend the reward money than let them convert it…

  • What happen to my PayPal card reward points ?

Looks like the new citi classic points have the same conversion rate. You can pay previous transaction @ 0.55c/point

  • Has anyone received their egift card from Citi rewards? They said they would give you a $50 gift card by Feb 2023 if you converted from Paypal rewards to Citi without cancelling. I havent received anything and its nearly Feb. Cant find a way to contact them, there is no secure email option on their app either. Its like they don't want to be contacted.

    • Nope it's 11 Feb now and I still haven't heard anything.

In the footnote of the original email said "A $50 Digital Gift Card will be available for redemption by you by 10 February 2023 providing your account is open and in good standing. You must redeem your Digital Gift Card within 80 days. Digital Gift Cards are non-redeemable for cash. Please note that this Digital Gift Card offer is not made by PayPal."

I've contacted Citi so waiting to hear back, keen to see if anyone had any luck so far!
