      .. how is it pathetic?

        think about 1080P TVs

        • +16

I have thought about 1080P TVs, cool thought. I enjoyed that thought. But I'm still lost as to what is wrong with Blu-ray

          • +1

@DiscountForThee: I, too, have had some time to reflect on 1080P TVs and it made me realise that 1080P TVs don't usually have Blu-ray drives.

That made me think "Hey, most TVs don't have Blu-ray drives!", but then that made me think "Wait, TVs don't have 4k drives either"

So that led me to the conclusion that @HD9990 was after a 4k TV for $4. So now it makes sense as to why he perceives Blu-ray discs as pathetic given his current situation of wanting a cheap television.

@DiscountForThee: lemme tell you about bluray, my wife got me Tom and Jerry, i'm watching it, having some crackers, good times good times, jerry picks up a frying pan and hits tom in the face AND THE FRYING PAN STAYED IN THE SHAPE OF TOM'S FACE FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTERWARDS

i mean hello tom's face isn't harder than a frying pan

clearly a display issue, thanks for nothing bluray, or as i now call it (when I think about 1080P TVs) "fake-as-shit-ray" because it was clearly fake

didn't look real at all, waste of my time, 6/10.

@Crow K: That's a really good point, too. Thanks for bringing that up.

I guess Blu-rays really are pathetic. I don't recall any such frying pan-related issues in films such as Parasite or Rear Window, but I'm going to toss them now just to be safe.

              • +1

@Faro: I won't do any spoilers for Parasite, but that big black frying pan that is meant to bring them good luck or fortune or whatever.. well … it makes a surprise re-appearance towards the end of the movie..

            • +2

@Crow K: You can just follow the rtings guide for your TV to fix artefacts like that. I have the same DVD, and after tweaking the settings it did accurately depict Tom's bloody deformed face after being hit by the pan.

Mostly matching the Big W deal. Although none of the 4K UHD blu-rays appear to be as cheap.

Seems like Amazon took interest into the chats I sent them about price matching

      I… I doubt that…

I used to watch Nat Geo 3D when it was free to air (ST2 Satellite - overseas), there were plenty of great docos on that and 3D was amazing :D

For. Second I thought someone released the The Last Dragon frlm the 80s/90s

If you like space - Apollo 11 is definitely worth getting. Saw it at the cinema with the kids, and despite barely a word of narration, we were absolutely hooked.

NB this is a different movie, and space mission, than Apollo 13.

  • Looks like there are no Blu-Ray Movies at these low prices anymore

    • Sorry, I found some cheap ones but Raya and The Last Dragon and some other are no longer available at these low prices.
