Bunnings Returns Policy

are bunnings any lenient with their returns policy? just bought this heater recently
http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_500w-panel-heateā€¦

and its not that good :L, i thought it would at least do a decent job of heating someone sitting at a desk…but the heat only really goes about 8-10 cms then just cools :(
do you think they will do refund or exchange?

I worked there about two years ago and we were very lenient with returns, as long as you have your receipt and it's in reasonable condition. They will probably try to lean you towards swapping it for another model, but I'm sure they should give you a refund so long as you explain it's not fit for the purpose you needed it for.

If they do refuse you, just ask to speak to a coordinator and explain to them that you're not happy with the product/service. Managers there are essentially told to say yes to everything just as long as you leave happy.

  • I found Bunnings service terrible when it comes to returns. I took something back that didn't perform as advertised and was told they will only accept returns under manufacturers warranty.
I quoted ACCC ie. retailer is responsible for goods to perform as described and was informed by the store manager that the retail trade act doesn't apply to Bunnings.

    • That's when you should have acted really shifty, pulled out your hidden camera, shouted "thanks ever so much!", then run off to A Current Affair or Today Tonight and collected your cheque.

On topic, just return it and cause a loud fuss if they say no.

      • I ended up with a $20 gift card from the area manager for my feedback. I was genuinely shocked that a manager of a store the size of Bunnings had never heard of retailer responsibilities or the trade act. They were quite rude about it too and I was on best behaviour not even a little bit obnoxious

    • then take them to the cttt. they will have to pay a staff member to attend the whole day and that will make them think twice. i know that since january 2011 the consumer has the right to their choice of refund replacement or repair providing it meets the criteria i.e. not as described / faulty

  • i went to bunnings to return something purchased 3 years ago (not mine) i thought the person bought them recently but i now realise why they sent me. they gave me the refund even though the receipt was so faded it was near impossible to read and 3 years old. thats ridiculous to expect them to refund but they did

  • I bought some new locks for the house to find they didn't fit with the holes in the door.
We made a mess of the packaging but all the returns desk wanted to know was if all the bits and pieces were there.
We wanted to exchange but they just processed a refund. Fantastic.

  • i bought an electric gate motor from them.

when I returned it 2 months later they just looked at the receipt and then credited my card.

    no hassles at all.
