Does Singapore Airlines still do free alcohol on international flights?

    • +2

I thought all long haul flights did across all major airlines. Or has something changed that I've missed?

      • Thai airways will only serve alcohol during meal times. I asked for a beer and was told no

        • Must be a covid thing, people were drinking on a 2020 early flight and no issues.

    • Most likely yes during the meal time

      • +2

That sounds like a you problem.

      • As if I would say that I don't want religious people sitting next to me… It is against my beliefs :-)
As a friend of mine would say - suck it up and cope it sweet. A bit of tolerance is always a good thing.

Read further that drinks after take off to be served in PE and economy from 16th September

    • They did on my recent flight to seattle. But the drinks with spirits are weak af.

With it being within two hours of purchasing to claim, this makes it very unlikely of a claim. Or on the other hand you knowingly do so as you would prefer their airline and want to get the ticket at best market rate.

SQ being one of the best airlines, I'd say the second part of your comment would be most relevant to this deal..

    • Isn't it that seats on a flight are held during a booking? If the booking doesn't proceed, you may get it cheaper.
I don't see a lit of people forking out for a flight and then spending the next 2 hours looking for a cheaper option though.

I wouldn't be jumping on to this promo as a 2 hour window for a refund of the fare difference is something nothing - just a gimmick.

    • +1

exactly you cannot expect someone to contact other agents and get a response of full of cost basis within 2 hours, especially if your agent lives on another side of the world.

      • The idea is you price match an online site (eg Webjet) not a travel agent

    • It seems it's more about letting you book directly with SQ instead of their agents, like some hotel programs do, by saying they will match any travel agent selling their product.

It's not going to give you any bargain, just encourage if you want to book directly it shouldn't (but still may) cost you more.

Singapore Airlines is my absolute favourite airline.

Love their recruitment policies for hostesses.

Business class service is full service.

Love their recruitment policies for hostesses
Business class service is full service

Wow - mile high club included!!!

    • +3

      Full service? Please elaborate

      • I have found the business class air hostesses go out of their way to please you.

        Ask and you shall receive.

Sydney to Singapore return fourteen times.

The difference in service between Qantas and Singapore airlines on the same route is chalk and cheese.

      • +2

I am sure it is not that "full service" :-)
My advice would be not to follow The CandyMan2020's advice and do not ask!

As others have mentioned, they’ll do everything to deny a claim. I submitted one few weeks back and they denied it claiming the OTA / TA is not IATA approved.

  • Don't book with SA direct (or any other airline). Use Skyscanner, you'll ALWAYS get a better price .. 🤔 .. !!

    https://www.skyscanner.com.au/

    • How about ticket cancellation policy via this portal? I mean not like there is going to be covid issues but unexpected things may happen.

    • Just be mindful if you need flexibility as the OTA through Skyscanner will charge you a significant fee for changes/cancellations in addition to what ever the airline charges.

    • Problem if is you want a longer stop over, you can't do this with skyscanner. Also, seat selection is after payment, meaning if you're wanting exit row, you can only get this if it is still available.

    • +4

I find just searching google flights often yields better results than sky scanner and then you don't run into the other issues that others have mentioned (fees for changes etc.)

    • and wait till your flight gets canceled.

    • For everyone below…

You don't actually book anything through skyscanner, it is a search portal that directs to other online travel agents. You can choose to book via another 3rd party portal or go to the airline direct.

The best international flight for Australia. If they allow SingaporeAir to fly domestic routes, we don't have to deal with the delays and cancellations nightmare.

    • +1

You would still have some, as the baggage handling would be done by the same contractors

Singapore airlines is good but this price match is a joke.
Just it and see. I did.
They have weird requirements (read them) which are easily reject’able’. Basically a marketing tactic rather than a legit price match.
E.g. : booking page screenshot should show date and time of device. using a phone how do you show that?? Raise within 2hours etc.
You send gif or video recording to show date time etc and told only screenshot valid!

    • Have to agree. Also note they will not price match if their own price reduces ie a price match against themselves.

  • Syd-Copenhagen mid Dec return early Jan was $3500 via SA website, just used Google Flights to find SAS (same SA flights) price was $2300.

    • Reach out to SA and see if they will honour $2300 price.

      • They're not matching competitors, or codeshares. Only themselves through a travel agent. The price match has to be the same flight number which won't be in this case.

    • Flights to find SAS (same SA flights) price was $2300.

Be careful as a lot of airlines are now listing their one way price ie it shows $2300 but that is just the flight to Europe; you think you have found a good deal only to discover that you then need to book the return flight for a similar price

  • Matching price after you book is a gimmick. They all get notified of the seats being booked and the price of flights goes up.
Do a proper price match with an agent like Flight Centre

    • This used to be a good option but the last few times I tried with Flight Centre they would only do a price match if you purchased their Captain's Package thing.

  • I got burnt by Qantas late last year when borders opened.

Agree with the above comment, price match and pay the lower amount than chasing airless to get the price difference back.

  • They'll try their best to deny a claim. This is a gimmick lol.
