[eBay Plus, Demo] DJI FPV 4K Drone Combo $1292.68 Delivered @ Allphones eBay

220
PAUGSEP12

This looks like the lowest price for a DJI FPV combo to date, compare to previous deals.
Title wrote "Demo Stock, New" but the description wrote "New - Brand New / Sealed". Take it as you will. Either way they are still much cheaper than secondhand prices on Gumtree.
The latest DJI Avata is out, but there are things that FPV combo is better, such as bigger and much faster, and the Goggles v2 is 4-antenna longer range (the new one is called Goggles 2, just one letter difference, has better resolution but only 2-antenna).
Compare then here.

If you don't have eBay Plus, buy from mobileciti for $1299.99 delivered, use code SNSAUGUST. I read somewhere here that both are the same store, so likely the same stock.

  • I am so tempted to get one of these at the moment

  • Would be so much more enticing if I was allowed to just sit on my balcony and fly this thing around.

    • +1

Obviously can't do that in urban areas but yes I agree. Not being legally allowed to go to an open park area and fly these things is stupid.

      • DJI are great at locking down and restricting their drones
I doubt can fly these anywhere in metro area
It just becomes an expensive paperweight

      • The in-laws are out in the middle of nowhere, would be nice to have for those visits, but paying this much for something I'll use once a month is a bit of a stretch for me.

      • +1

I heard DJI now does not let the drone take off unless it is in a "legal area".
I think it also does this if your phone is not connected to the internet or you try to disable GPS.

        • Yeah I went out to a friends farm in the middle of nowhere and couldn't fly my DJI mini cause I forgot to open the app recently. Very annoying.

          • +1

@theguyrules: "cause I forgot to open the app recently."

How does that work? You need to open the App regularly? otherwise it thinks you are doing something suspicious?

            • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I wish I knew. I think it had signed me out, or something like that. Can't fly without being signed in, couldn't log in without internet.

              • @theguyrules: "couldn't log in without internet."

Ok yeah I think that's the problem. According to older past youtube reviews, I remember there being a work around to the "Internet/GPS block" thing where you could log in and let it get GPS in a "legal" location, then turn off Mobile Data take your drone somewhere else (anywhere) and fly it. But I am pretty sure they closed that loophole.

                • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah, it wasn't a big deal but it was a bit of a pain, cause it is basically the only place I get the chance to fly my drone and I couldn't. I'm going again next weekend so I need to remember to plan ahead.

                  • @theguyrules: Yeah I think it is very much a problem when you pay $1000's of dollars for it and it won't even get off the ground.

I am not a drone owner, but I remember a comment years ago in another forum which said something like "If you want to try it out, get one now while the rules are loose. Eventually they are going to clamp down on drones flying and there won't be much you can do with them." Turned out they were right.

  • These will be coming down in price now since they've released a new FPV drone - Avata.

    • +1

Which is slower than my Mavic Pro (1) and has a ~20 minute battery life… At that point it's basically a toy, not a drone 😬

      • Avata is a FPV drone, Mavic is photo/video drone, different products for different purposes and buyer, BTW Avata has much better sensor therefore can produce much better video and photo quality than your aged Mavic Pro 1

        • +1

I'll concede it's aged, but it keeps performing so admirably and the batteries have maintained their health that I can't justify replacing it even if I wanted to.

As for FPV, it has a perfectly functional sport mode to unlock its full agility and speed, and is fully compatible with the V1 FPV goggles (which I also have).

I'm not saying that it would contend well in FPV sports…. but it's not just a flying camera either.

      • +1

avatar is mainly for indoor FPV use, so totally different use case.

        • That's fair - I'll concede that.

        • I wouldn't classify it specifically as an indoor drone, it's perfectly capable of flying outdoors.

It's in the class of 3.5" cinewhoops probably aimed at the very popular geprc cinelog drone.

  • Comes up 1569 with code for me

    • They have just jacked the price! Deal’s over…
Try mobileciti for $1299.99 delivered, use code SNSAUGUST before they jack the price too.

      • Mobileciti just jacked their price as well. Boo…

  • I don’t know if this is such a great deal, the new Avata drone is only $1629
    https://www.d1store.com.au/products/dji-avata-fly-smart-comb…

    • only 1 battery in that kit?

      • It's also worth noting that link features the motion controller instead of a conventional controller, which may or may not be what you want.

        • Yeah sure, but it comes with the newer drone and goggles. The goggles are now oled and full hd.
I’d put my money to that personally.

    • That’s DJI RRP for the Smart combo.

  • +1

Doesn't matter if it is only $100 if I can't find anywhere I'm legally allowed to fly in FPV mode, it will be useless to me.
