  • Seems average price for a projector with that res.

    • Seems pretty good to me, especially seeing that Amazon have stopped shipping many of the projectors to AU. I bought a similar one a few months back. Amazon wont ship that model here anymore, just like my crucial M4 and my Nikon camera too. I reckon if you need a good basic data projector, grab this one!

    SVGA? Ah, my freaking eyes!

    • So you don't watch YouTube? ;)
I agree actually. Wouldn't buy a projector under 720p native.

Ive been needing a projector upgrade for a while and snagged one of these in the previous OZB post last week. Mine came to AUD$335 all up inc delivery.

Annoyingly, it does not have HDMI but with that said, I hooked it up to my 2011 MacMini with a MiniDP to VGA connector and was able to get it to output 16:9 at 1920 x 1080. I was surprised. Apple sell both the MiniDP to VGA (http://store.apple.com/au/product/MB572Z/A) and also HDMI to VGA . I bought mine of eBay for about $10 inc delivery.

If you're not aware, both HDMI and MiniDP outputs digital and VGA is analog so if you are buying off eBay, make sure you get one that has a similar box shape on the cable as per Apple one above. There is a chip in the box that converts the digital signal to analog. A simple cable will not suffice.

A regret I made is that I did not get a convertor that also handles the audio conversion. I only realised one existed yesterday. I want to use my AppleTV2 with this projector so I have ordered a HDMI to VGA + Audio converter so I can also plug in my Yamaha computer speakers & amp. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Black-Male-Female-HDMI-VGA-w-Audiā€¦).

Overall, the contrast / brightness on this thing is very impressive. I tested it indoors during the day, and directed the picture onto the biggest wall in our house, which happens to be dark cream colour. I was able to watch a recorded sports game on it without any issues whatsoever. If I didnt know better and someone told me it was a white wall, I would have had no reason to not believe them.

If you have a dedicated home cinema room at home, then this may not fly for you needs, but other than that, this is a good item for the price.

    • And BTW, the 3D thing is a little confusing. It works with a PC with 3D capabilities but wont work with a PS3 or dedicated Blueray player apparently. I'm not too up on the differences of 3D technology but if this is your thing, it might be worth investigating.

      • 3d bluray players and the ps3 use hdmi 1.4 to output 3d.The PC uses the dvi output.

        • Can one play a 3D Blueray disc (or .avi) on a PC and watch in 3D via the projector?
