Anti Glare/Reflective Film for 75 Inch TV in Australia?

Hi guys,

I recently bought a Hisense 75 inch U7G from an online store. I don't usually watch TV, mostly watch videos on my computer screen — Xiaomi 34 inch ultrawide or on a 120 inch projector screen. I don't have high expectation for U7G considering its price, but I think it's good enough for me for casual watching. Now I found one thing that really bothers me, the screen is so reflective that for dark scenes, I was distracted from the reflection of the surroundings. I can see sofa, myself reflected in the screen. Then I went to check my Xiaomi monitor and realised it has almost zero reflection. Not sure why TV screen can't be made like computer monitor?

Are there any TV models in oz market that have similar screen as computer monitors?

Are there any good anti glare/reflective film that I can buy in oz market? Anyone tried, are you happy with the result?

Thanks.

What is the tv room lighting / window furnishings?

Exactly. Fix your room lighting, not the screen.

    • It's a dark room downstairs, doesn't get much sunshine and there are blinds on windows.

  • They are reflective because it's cheaper to make.

Some higher end TVs (2k-3k) have anti glare layers and circular polarizers.

    • According to this https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/bright-room, the Sony X85J X90J are even worse with a score of 7.1 while U7G has a score of 7.4.

      • I believe Sony are treating their LED line as a mid-tier television now.

I personally went for one of the LG OLEDs when they were on sale, I notice their reflection score on that site is quite good (9.x).

  • Most TV screens do lean more to the glossy side, rather than matte. Reason for that is simple. Glossy screens make colours pop. Some manufacturers go to the effort of lessening this somewhat, but they are toeing a line.

In any case though, I am not aware of any anti-reflective films that can be attached to a tv, especially one that size.

  • anti polarizing glasses?
at least they're cheaper than a full screen filter

    • anti polarizing glasses

      That's….not a thing :)

      • sun glasses are anti polarizing, they are just dark :p
