iLearn College - >TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment $790

Anyone had any experience with this training place??

Total price: WAS $1290 NOW $790! LIMITED TIME ONLY!

Seems very cheap compared to most places and listed here in the past… I understand there is cheap and there is cheapshit in training.

I used to be a trainer in the 90's with the RFS in Sydney, and enjoyed it… Cant get RPL I dont think as it was so long ago.

  • Looks like a scam to me, but sometimes these can be totally legit, maybe contact them and ask them who they are accredited with, the actual course itself is legit.

    • Yea the issues in recent years with training places going toes up does concern me… thanks for the info :)

At then end of the day you are just after the piece of paper to satisfy requirements.

    Go the cheapest legit option.

I've seen people complete these course and they are still shit trainers and assessors.

I've seen people with natural ability (before these cert 4's were a requirement) and they were awesome trainers.

For this particular course I would highly suggest not going for the cheapest option. Granted the piece of paper will be enough to satisfy requirements of a trainer but a good place would also teach you how to unpack competency units. This can open additional and more lucrative career paths such as those in quality control and instructional design (really big right now).
I would strongly suggest going to a place that runs this particular course for close to a year and gives you assessments/projects that require you to develop training plans and assessment tools.

It is a very good qualification to have if done from the right place.

That makes sense but in my 25 years of on the job training (both delivering and receiving) I can guarantee completing this course doesn't make you a better trainer or assessor. You either have a natural ability or you don't.

        • not pumpin up my tyres, but during my few years as a trainer with the fireys I always had glowing reviews… inc creating courseware for our area etc… This came from having the best people train me, and support me and critique my training to make me better
          ..
theres a lot more to training than just talking and boring people to sleep.

Company i work for is going down the tubes due to shit management and the only way they see to make money is to get rid of people.

After 20yrs in IT, Im just thinking of something different in IT… I find training easy if you are all on the same page.

… at 50something i dont wanna go back to start

So this and possibly ITIL which sounds like nothing more than common sense to me, but alll IT jobs seem to want it…

        • Teaching in general is one of those things where natural flair does help a lot. Having said that this is still a good qual to do provided you do it from a good place.

          • @PumpkinHater: Yea got a few friends that were HS teachers… that put me off it faster than a 14yr old with a playboy

Just want to find a good training place.
