  The reviews seem pretty poor, with regards to thermals and older chipset.

    USB 3.2 gen 2x2 so you must have a motherboard that supports it (note: USB 4 does NOT need to support USB 3.2 gen 2x2).
    As for the chipset, right now, for enclosures, there is only 1 chipset for USB 3.2 gen 2x2 enclosures.

    Then, there is the reliability of USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 in general. Probably is due to the chipset.
